Lucky sod. :D

Anyway, purchased the meat of my pc now:

HP ZR24W 24" 1920X1200 screen
I7 2600k
8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz (2x4gb)
P8Z68-V PRO Motherboard
GTX 580 graphics card
X-Fi Titanium

Total cost: £765 (excluding X-Fi which I had already). Moderately chuffed at what I got for the cost, but BF3 better be bloody worth it. :D

Why are people purchasing now specifically for BF3? Hardware will come down in price between now and release. People are probably scurrying to release GPUs etc. in time for it, which at the worst will mean current new models will be cheaper as they're superseded.

Personally I did it as my current machine was grinding to a halt, and I was struggling to work on it (processing large numbers of wedding photos). The Alpha ran great on it, so I have no doubt the final release will as well :)

I probably COULD have waited. But I didn't want to ;)

That's a very good price for your system:cool:

I have Q6600 system which I built last april and it cost me around same. I did sell some old parts aswell to offset the actual cost.

But I still need 24" monitor :(

Depends which build of bf2. THe orginal release had stupidly high time requirements for some awards, 1000hrs for gold pilot badge is an example. That got condensed to 100hrs which was a high but within reach.

You could get a real pilots license in less time than that haha.

The next gen cards from nvidia (not sure about ATI) will not be out until Q1 2012 so I don't really see the point in not upgrading now. Hell the 480 that I brought a while back is now over £100 more expensive.

I disagree, without the fear of dying it would be a crap game of endless rushes. At least with people caring about K/D ratio, etc., there is a bit of tension, just like you'd get on a real Battlefield.

For me the fear of dieing is due to losing position or an opportunity to frag. The problem (IMO) is that the KDR still what largely differentiates a noob from a born killing machine. But a born killing machine may not be playing the objectives.

I know that there are points for defensive kills etc but I think they need to do more to encourage playing the objectives.

Ok guys like most i don't want another program like steam for my games so im going to get a hard copy of the game.

So my question is were is the best place to buy
