Why are people purchasing now specifically for BF3? Hardware will come down in price between now and release. People are probably scurrying to release GPUs etc. in time for it, which at the worst will mean current new models will be cheaper as they're superseded.
Lucky sod.
Anyway, purchased the meat of my pc now:
HP ZR24W 24" 1920X1200 screen
I7 2600k
8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz (2x4gb)
P8Z68-V PRO Motherboard
GTX 580 graphics card
X-Fi Titanium
Total cost: £765 (excluding X-Fi which I had already). Moderately chuffed at what I got for the cost, but BF3 better be bloody worth it.
If it takes anywhere as near as long as BF2 did you should be fine!
Depends which build of bf2. THe orginal release had stupidly high time requirements for some awards, 1000hrs for gold pilot badge is an example. That got condensed to 100hrs which was a high but within reach.
You could get a real pilots license in less time than that haha.

Found my old stats from bf2. Only reached the rank of staff sergeant.

I disagree, without the fear of dying it would be a crap game of endless rushes. At least with people caring about K/D ratio, etc., there is a bit of tension, just like you'd get on a real Battlefield.
Ok guys like most i don't want another program like steam for my games so im going to get a hard copy of the game.
lol
Good luck
why do you still have to have origin?
