I am giving them the benefit of the doubt at the moment.

I too have fears that it will be bad company 3 with prone and more vehicles / aircraft.

I so want to be proven wrong.

People seem to quickly forget that the gunplay in BF2 was dire. I'm all for big scale maps and lots of players, but the combat needs to be sorted out.

We have to give DICE some give and take.

I will give them the Commander feature if they give us the core of what made BF2 great.

Big maps.
Same amount of classes. (not gunner rolled into medic etc)
Same size squads as BF2.

Basically do not lose these features to make it more simplistic for the damn consolitus player;)

Sorry but whats the point of the same game with a new engine and new graphics? This mentality seems to spring up time and time again and it makes no sense.

because that same game i.e bf2 is still being played by thousands. why? because many feel it was the last greta BF game made by dice.

Why is it ok for fallout, COD, fifa etc etc to bring out the same game with updated engine?

why cant dice do that with bf3? a sequal is suppose to build and improve on previous game. not take away features

I personally didnt like the commander feature, usually it was taking by idiots who would command a squad to take a point which was being camped by numerous players and then the commander wouldnt even call in arty at the spot, got to the point where i would just ignore the commander who usually would only be after pts and not in helping the team win.

5 years on it has a decent fanbase still but they are catering to a larger install base this time around so some concessions are almost certain.

Because those games are yearly updates, not all that much is going to change from 1 year to the next. Its coming up on 6 years since BF2 came out, Dice are simply not going to target just the hardcore fans of BF2 by making BF3 the same game with better graphics, which seems to be the road some people want them to take. Just seems that some people want to pick up where they left off and have not have to relearn anything.

I have to agree.

Many games the commander was not helping the team at all.

But a good one who would talk to the squad leaders, it made all the difference.

And it made games all the more fun for it.

To take it away because, a console player cannot just "jump-in" and play is wrong, but its all about the Benjamin's.

Didn't enjoy the commander mode at all. I would often play on a team where our commander was utterly **** and the other teams commander was very good, which made it feel like no matter what you did on the 'battlefield' you weren't gonna win because of your **** commander.

Having played many competitive BF2 matches i think a good commander is a win ,
sure if your in a pub game you will usually get some noob but for clan games the commander is the most important player..

mutiny then.

Court martial followed immediately by death by firing squad imo.

I know i'm hoping for a lot here... but can they PLEASE make more than 1 freakin' class 'loadout' per class. It really can't be difficult to give 2 loadout saves per class so you can quickly change between 2 roles.

i don't see an assault class

Could be fake or it could just be a work in progress!

or those arrows at the top are for extra selections, i have no idea :(

Why does the Medic have an assault rifle? Surely the SMG is more of a Medic item.

no, Medics carry the same basic small arms that the squad-leaders and riflemen carry (mostly... they might have M4s or M16s - not a huge difference)

they just carry less ancillaries to make up for the medical gear they carry.

this is the unit-breakdown of a USMC fireteam:
"A fire team is the basic element of the GCE. It consists of four Marines: the team leader/rifleman (M4/M16), one rifleman (M4/M16), one grenadier (M4/M16 with M203) and one light machine gunner (M249). The team leader is typically a Lance Corporal or Corporal."

A Squad will consist of two or three fireteams, where one of the riflemen might be replaced by a field medic.

SMG's are used very infrequently in actual militaries these days, on account of them not really having the range/ballistic performance to be useful.
