Battlefield 4 - Performance FIXES Thread (Good or Bad)

Game is smooth for me apart from the occasional jarring fps drop that occurs once a round. Installed the beta on an SSD as mechanical hard drives can cause major stutter.

Any tried turning off hyper threading... Wasn't that a fix for stuttering previously

NOT a good idea from what I've seen - the game seems to have been optimised to work best over 8 threads - to the point that a slow 8 core or even 4+4 HT CPU seems to be a LOT smoother than a massively faster 4 core in this game.

From a casual observation (I'm probably wrong as this is really casual observation) the massive stuttering issues seem to be due to certain threads most notably ones loading data in and out being fixed onto the higher number cores - usually the last core or the last 2 cores depending on system config while other worker threads are left to the OS to assign which sometimes causes a conflict when the game is busy swapping data and another worker thread is busy on the same core.

Just watching some twitch streams and 1 guy is on 100fps constant but his textures look like high picmip, looks almost like TF2

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this?

2x7970 - 13.10B2 drivers

BF on auto for Video, FOV set to 80

Smooth as a babies bum - what's the best way to get a FPS average?

8GB DDR2@1068MHz
7950@1000/1250Mhz (13.10B2 drivers)
1920x1080p High settings (FOV 70) Motion blur off
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Cpu almost fully maxed out 94-96% average

Frame rate 28-35FPS average :(

Lol at the huge spikes!!

Either the beta is not optimised efficiently or the game is very cpu demanding, may possibly require more than 4 threads to run smoothly.

Total ram usage more than 4GB!! Never happened before

Currently using 327.23s.. game is stuttering to an unplayable play rate even on low:

3570 @4.7GHz | Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H | 16GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer @ 1600Mhz | Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB @ stock

Is this right or do I need those betas

It is only using 2.2 gb vram. That result will be the vram usage doubled as you are using crossfire. If it was using 4.4gb ram it wouldnt even work considering you only have 3gb!

My guess is the CPU - game doesn't seem to like it when you have less than 8 execution units whether real cores or HT - atleast on my laptop the game goes from fairly smooth with HT on to a stuttery mess with it off.

Spec as in sig.
Game was barely playable before installing the beta drivers. Just chugged along.
Better now but not smooth by any means.
Resolution at 1680x1050
Experimented with high and medium settings and getting anything from 15 to 42 fps. Drops particularly obvious on larger conquest games.
Waiting for the final game to drop before considering any updates.
Not overly concerned with all the eye candy as I tend to turn lots of it off anyway, as in BF3 and BC2 (but BF4 just doesn't look or feel quite BF enough - not sure why) but a bit disappointed that it doesn't run slightly better. BF3 is only game I've really played in last two years and it runs very smoothly (don't really monitor the stats); this demo is horrible by comparison. Hopefully final version is tweaked and us with modest/dated systems can enjoy the fun too.
