I think the tracer gun just makes the tank or whatever stay on your map and become visible on everyone else's HUD (the orange icon) but I haven't used it myselfSo it can be "traced"

After some research, it's for tagging enemy tanks/humvees/helicopters/snipers so that engineers can lock onto them and rockets will seek them. So it's pretty useless, unless you have a dedictated fire team of specialist and demo working together, but you would need a mate or something to do that with.
Main issues for me:
-Red dot above head isn't realistic and gives away positions to snipers easily.
E.g: I might be running to an empty building and get sniped.... I take a full on hit to the body and make it to the building alive. I scream for a medic who runs to my aid, he clambers over the rubble and throws a medipack. HOWEVER, the red dot above my head has allowed a tank, helicopter and 2 snipers to open fire on our position. Boom, dead (and so was the medic).
- Name tags don't appear clear enough and quick enough above allies, I have shot too many friendlys (yes I could be classed as american!).
- Name tags stay above heads too long for enemies, so again, easy for them to just follow you around and shoot you in the back.
- Squad voice only is really useless, I mean usually it involves team mates driving off without you and you can't shout at them for a lift. Also, I would like to be able to broadcast to my team about incoming tanks and tactics.
+ Solution - tap down on Dpad to speak to the whole team (at the risk of local enemies hearing) and it will time out after 2 secs of no speech like halo.
- Snipers can't kill with body shots as of the lag, so either get rid of the lag or one shot kill strength of the sniper?
