'BBC considering ditching Legard'

Asides from the occasional moment where I thought that DC needs to drop one of his day jobs to be impartial it seemed to work OK.

yeh good commentry, they certianly made a rather stale race as entertaining as possible, although eddie and jake as pre/after show chat is a bit hit or miss. tbh eddie looks like he is not at all happy with the current set up.

I didn't notice the commentary during the race.

That's such a blinding improvement over recent years! I'd got so used to be annoyed by the commentators that just having a competent pairing was a massive improvement.

I think with a bit of practice they'll shape up to be a top notch duo.

I'll have to be the lone voice here that says I wasn't bowled over by Brundle as lead commentator. He seemed a little more clipped, and less relaxed in his speech. Coulthard offered little as co-commentator too.

However, there's no denying they're a great improvement over Legard. Give them time to get used to the roles, and the charisma should hopefully come back.

Much better than Legard, although as Weebull has said, Brundle sounded a bit nervous and muddled his words a few times.

I'm sure they'll come on leaps and bounds though!

Thought the commentary was poor from start to finish, Brundle was either chatting on about something with no relevance to the race, or trying to juggle 2 or 3 things at once. DC might as well have not been there at all.
I do think they will improve as a team, hopefully they do anyway because right now I'd say Legard was better.

I was impressed with them both to be honest. Much better than Legard and it was great to have two experienced drivers with knowledge of the sport. Considering it was the first race for them both in the new roles and that it's not only just going to BBC viewers but a variety of English speaking broadcasters around the world, I half expect they were a little nervous.

This is the first time in 2 years I haven't shouted at the television during F1 commentary. That's some going.

And previously, I used to say something to Kate and then lo and behold Brundle would mention it - yesterday, I did the same but this time it was DC bringing it up :D

Thank god you're in the minority.

I thought it was MUCH better, Very well informed of course. They kept it on the boil, even if lets be honest the race wasn't all that great.

They both have a real understanding of how things are meant to work, and how they are actually working. (Like this stupid DRS) They will only get better :)

and they're GGGGOOOOOO!!!!!! only Murray Walker was able to pull that off, and Legard just made it cringe worthy.

I thought Brundle and Coulthard did an excellent job considering this was their first live commentary they had done, I saw is a tweet that Brundle posted saying there need to be an improvement.

What i noticed was Coulthard spotting the little things and explaining the impact they had as they happened, which would be missed by anyone else.

Great start that i feel can only get better over time with more experience

I did wonder if Brundle was turning into Leggard when Schumacher came into the pits with a missing rear tyre and Brundle completely missed it. DC had to point out to him for reason for the stop.

Still after that I thought that the commentary was pretty good.

Definitely think DC + Brundle is a big improvement.

At the end of the race DC ran back down to speak with EJ + JH and they said something along the lines of "he's just run down from the commentary box"; my girlfriend said "DC was doing the commentary? I wondered why it didn't annoy me like it did last year". :D

You can get your girlfriend to watch f1 with you? What's the trick?
Exactly, my girlfriend was moaning for a long time when she found out F1 is back on, come to think of it one of my kids also started to moan as he wanted to play on the PS3.

What I found really good about the commentary is that DC was really great in picking up things and noticing stuff that was happening, Martin Brundle was a bit on the background and not really noticable.
