It's pretty clear on the TV License website.
Must have been updated? first time I've seen it put that black and white and I had a good look over the site a few weeks ago as did a few others. Thanks though that should put their mind at ease.
It's pretty clear on the TV License website.
If the BBC did that, it would become as "subscription service" and breach its charter.
There's a few things things I like to watch. But not enough for a blanket 145 a year for it.
I'll either circumvent or not bother depending on the way it is enforced.
I'd be fine with watching a few ads before and during question time.
I'm not paying 145 for it
No one ever said all TV inspectors are rapists and it wasn't a single case and it isn't just rape. There is a high indecent rate among inspectors. There are youtube channels and blogs which follow the problems people have. A few weeks back I watched a video where an a scared child rang his dad as an inspector pushed into the house and looked around without any adult permission to enter. Another time an inspector refused to show his ID badge and identify him self to a single mum who kept asking who are you. Some inspectors are ok but there are also many bad ones. Even had my own bad experiences. So its perfectly justifiable to say don't let them in. Inspectors have a bad reputation for reason. There are a few good ones but more then enough bad ones that its sensible to not let them near your home.So a single case in September 2011 and suddenly all TV licence inspectors are rapists.
Same logic as all muslims are terrorists...oh hang on, this is GD after all.
Another way the license is somewhat archaic - its essentially paying for the service but the world has largely moved on from that model. Eventually I guess they will have to make some changes or face an increasing number who simply don't pay.
I haven't watched live TV in over a year now. I think i could easily go without the BBC as well.
Of course you have a choice, don't watch TV. I'd rather save the money myself.
Not really sure you're being honest with yourselves, most of want I watch is online, however not being able to watch any live shows, events or sports seems a bit of stretch.
You guys are very much in the minority.

If you're a recluse living alone you could do that, however most of us co-exist with other members of the human race so I don't see how that can work.

eh? If you're a recluse living alone then you've likely got a greater need for TV. Kind of the opposite of someone who doesn't watch live TV and only watches some on demand stuff.
Not having a TV or not watching live TV is getting more common. There has been a sharp increase in those that watch shows online and a large decease in those that watch live TV. We are now into the millions that use broadband only without picking up broadcast live TV signals and millions more have both but spend more time watching broadband content. There has been a clear trend towards broadband services over live TV for years now.The point was if you're living with others they have to be of the same opinion as you, only takes one person to switch on and you need a licence.
Going TV free and and living on your own is a lot easier to achieve than a household with a family.
I don't know anybody who doesn't watch TV, although I had a strange maths teacher back in school who claimed not to own one, but this was over 20 years ago.![]()
Good man.
Have you had any problems? People from 'tv licensing' knocking on your door?
