BBC set to drop Neighbours

Oh yes! I hate Neighbours with a passion. Hopefully there'll be an outbreak of plague on Ramsay St and they'll all die horribly.

A fine condiment.. That's actually one of only 2 from a set that I can get away with posting really, she's a naught gal.
As for neighbours, the beeb wont drop it. Far too many viewers to loose (and in reality it's a flagship show leading into the evening). If they do however drop it.. I will cry, deep genuine tears.

Why are so many people shocked by the £70k figure? According to Wikipedia the show attracts approximately 5,000,000 viewers a day across the two showings on BBC One.

That's a total of about 1.4p for each viewer...

It's been my dirty little secret for many, many years that I watch neighbours almost every episode.

I must admitt thought I don't think it is worth 70k+ per episode. The show only lasts just over 20mins each episode.

It was the BBC who put forward an offer of £70k/episode, and the fact that others such as ITV have placed higher bids indicate that it is worth that much.

While the crappest program around I would love it if it left the shores of the U.K, I know so many people that watch it obsessively.

I do have to say though, that Rachel that is on it at the moment is bloody gorgeous. I can't wait till she's 18 and starts doing FHM shoots!

As a comaprison, Channel 4 is paying £700,000 per episode for old episodes of The Simpsons

As for people saying "Put it into Top Gear", what do you propose they do during the 40 minutes a day Neighbours is on?

And I would imagine that Neighbours draws far more more than a tenth of the audience that The Simpsons gets therefore £70000 per episode is very good value

Can't see them dropping it to be honest. They will come to a deal at the 11th hour.

The BBC is hardly the most popular broadcaster these days. They can't afford to lose their most popular programs (Top Gear, Neighbours, etc).
