Can i review my sata cable?

My review:

I plugged my cable in and i got a connection to my hard drive that worked.

This cable gives my hard drive a 100% speed boost as i got nothing before using it.

It is very energy efficient as i discovered wiring it up to a separate 1000W PSU makes no difference on the performance, so no extra power or cooling is needed.

Improvements that could be made:

Make the cable not taste very nice, as my me and my cat found it rather tasty to chew on.

Other than that i give this sata cable 4/5

What do i win? ;)

I need something new to review now :D

I'm considering picking up some Senn HD555's and an Astro Mixamp, but it's hard to review audio products with the sound being based on opinion. Also, I haven't listened to a lot of audio products so I can't make a good comparison.

Maybe I'll just rebox my monitor and review it.

Awesome competition. I bought a few bits from OcUK recently so I've got something new to review, and I love writing reviews. I'll definitely be entering this competition at some point :)

If we were to become a proper reviewer, what sort of testing would be involved with the products? In the review template, it says to run 3d mark or something... if we got the proper job, would we have to do a lot more testing, with a few games etc?

The review template is simply to ensure a level playing field for all entrants. The format of future live reviews is a different matter.

Spie

If you are feeling adventurous, you may wish to take a video “walk-around” of the product also!

Any views on a video element to the review? Do we upload to youtube and include a link or include the video file in an email?

Always fancied myself 'potentially' the UK version of 3dGameman (youtube) as I find a video review is very useful to get a fuller vision of a product.

Stick to the review guide for now. If we allow everyone to do different methods of reviews then it just becomes too messy and not a fair comparison.

One question, for those who are chosen to become reviewers, what happens if they do not have the hardware for testing the product?

For example, they are offered a LGA1366 motherboard to review and do not already have a compatible processor and DDR3 memory etc?

Another example would be if they were offered a new high end graphics card to test but do not have a powerful processor hence becoming a bottleneck in any benchmarks etc?

All these details will be worked out in time and are no different to those faced by other review sites. For the moment the main priority is to submit an entry.

Yeah, I was thinking that. At least my MB is AM3 compatable so I may have to get a Phenom II... not that I can afford it! I always thought a test rig should be bang up to date, so whatever you are putting in is the bottleneck.

Aye this was my thoughts exactly.

I suppose they could just send peripherals etc to be reviewed instead but as you get to keep them I'd imagine after the 50th mouse has been recieved you would get rather fed up :p

Ah ok, I am tempted to have a go myself but as the hardware in my PC's is usually 1 generation behind it would be rather awkward :D

Like others have said, it's nice to see OcUK finally considering doing full product reviews, it's about the only thing the site lacks and will be a welcome addition :)

I'm sure OcUK will supply a test bed of components to who ever gets chosen so the best testing can be carried out. ;)
