Belgian Grand Prix 2014, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 12/19

Silly season, this is silly race.
To add to the vestappen rumours

Some surprising news has emerged from reliable sources today. Andre Lotterer could be getting his chance to race in Formula One this weekend, taking the wheel of one of Caterham's CT05, ousting Kamui Kobayashi from his seat.

Yes, this would not simply be a few laps in practice, he will actually take part in the race.

Lotterer is widely considered one of the most talented racers outside of Formula One, having taken the overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in three of the last four years.

Verstappen is outrageously talented and is statistically the greatest karter of all time, he's looked amazing in every series he's driven in and is the youngest ever winner of an F3 race in one of (if not THE) most competitive F3 field ever.

16 is stupidly young though but there is no denying the kid could go on to become a superstar and multiple world champion if handled correctly.

His father could have too (in my opinion) as he had some stupidly good drives, but nowhere consistently enough, and wouldn't be hard to argue much of that was down to him being thrown in against Schumacher in what many view as an inferior car (as in he didn't have all of the toys at his disposal that Schumacher did).

Schumacher utterly destroying him really put an end his own rapid march up to F1. Max could very easily go the same way.

Vijay Mallya in trouble again with the Indian authorities. Likely to be forced off the United Breweries board for failing to repay loans. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...red-wilful-defaulter/articleshow/40352766.cms

Mallya, 58, chairs the board of United Spirits Ltd (USL) and United Breweries Ltd (UBL), the market leading liquor and beer makers, in which Diageo Plc and Heineken are the major shareholders. At USL -- which he sold to Diageo in a $3 billion deal -- a new board of directors is digging into the company's past money trails.

Three lenders — State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and United Bank of India — have sought to slap the 'wilful defaulter' tag on Mallya. He has already challenged United Bank of India's move in the court and may follow suit with the other two.

Max in at TR proves that being a Test Driver/3rd Driver is utterly and completely pointless now-a-days. If you want to develop a driver, you need him in a race seat.

And Lotterer in at Caterham proves money buys anything.

You mean starting on pole and then finishing 4th, behind your team mate who started from the pit lane and was pointing the wrong way on the first lap wasn't crushing enough?

I think that just shows how much luck LH used up in one race (makes up for all the bad luck he has had previously at the very least) lol

Lotterer is a salaried driver in WEC and Super Formula, so I can only assume that a local sponsor wanted him in the car at Spa as a condition of payment.

I didn't say it was specifically Lotterers money, but its clear somebody is paying for him to be in that seat.

Caterham must be pretty screwed if they are having to resort to rent-a-drive single race drivers.
