Belgian Grand Prix 2014, Spa-Francorchamps - Race 12/19

The richest F1 driver is Schui with some $700 mil. The biggest earners are Alonso and Lewis. I don't thin kimi is that rich.

I can't see Vettel leaving RBR at the end of this season. His reputation would be in question, even after four WDCs. He needs to beat his team mate again first.

McLaren may go for a top driver for 2015 if they've not enough confidence in the Honda partnership. If they're confident then they have a pairing that, although not the greatest / proven, is known and proficient. Win some 2015 races with those drivers and show the package to be good and then they'll attract top drivers more cheaply in 2016.

Although I'm enjoying this F1 season, I can't wait for pre-season testing at Jerez and Barcelona next year. This year was awesome, and there's so much to look forward to for next year. Still plenty to enjoy for 2014, although I'd almost like one of the Merc drivers to start to dominate the other. There's some good racing going on behind them and it doesn't get the coverage it deserves.

I don't see McLaren doing magically better next year
Or at least it's a gamble completely to jump from Ferrari to McLaren

McLaren have the best engine this year
They aren't doing well
Going to Honda you would expect the best they can do is have an equal engine to Mercedes next year or at worst a lemon
Taking that they need a drastic improvement in their chasis
This means Ferrari have a better chasis than McLaren currently
But they have a worse engine
So we don't know if Honda will be a worse or better engine.. Lottery
So.. For McLaren you have an engine lottery and a drastic chasis improvement needed
For ferrari.. You have to improve the engine and improve the chasis (much less)
Taking all this.. all signs point to ferrari having a better car next year

Thus to me jumping to McLaren would be a very human reaction not based on evidence.
The logical thing to do would be stay at ferrari

Williams have improved, but they still aren't a front runner and probably won't be.

So you missed the whole season so far? The only reason Williams haven't notched up several race wins is the dominance of Mercedes. Bottas has been on the podium more than anyone except Hamilton, Rosberg and Ricky Boy.

Haha Nico and ham were meant to be doing a promotional thing for Hugo boss on Wednesday and it's not happening now, or at least not both on the same day. This shows more than we've seen before. Allowing it to get so bad it's annoying one off their big sponsors.

It's in the latest peterwindsor youtube.

They haven't been close rbr have been spanking them, even with one impaired driver. They've been near the front for a few seasons now, there is nothing that says they're going to make that final jumps.

Not logical, as it is unlikely that anyone will win anything at Ferarri in the next few seasons.

I don't disagree. But think they are a safer bet than McLaren

McLaren could be massively amazing next year. But more likely massively poor.
Probably somewhere in between behind Ferrari

Pinkham said at the weekend she was meant to be doing it, cringed on TV post race, then I think it was Lee McKenzie who said (or maybe retweeted) on Monday or Tuesday that it had been postponed.

Even Hamilton and Alonso filmed a Mercedes advert at McLaren (and both genuinely looked like they were genuinely having good fun doing so), which was intially broadcast well after relations had reportedly soured at Monaco... though Alonso's issues were more with Ron Dennis than Hamilton I suppose.

Loads of people talking about Hugo Boss... I'm sure they won't mind.

but being a customer of a factory team is always going to be worse than being THE factory team which you havent allowed for.

Unquestionably the Merc engine will be restricted some how for customers, so only Merc have the best engine, McLaren, Williams and FI will be at least one notch below that.

Ferrai as an engine may be worse off from the pure engine point of view but I would put a heavy bet on the fact they are able to rely on 100% of it developement wise unlike customer teams.

2ndly we have no idea if /how McLaren have already designed their chassis with Honda in mind (baring in mind how long they have known about this , designing the chassis around the Merc for a single year where they are most likely to trail Marc anyway would have been a bad move)

Maybe look at ALL the evidence not just cherry pick some evidence

Not necessarily restricted.

The Mercedes factory team have built their chassis around that engine design, the much smaller packaging of it has allowed Mercedes to run cooler and a much smaller body than the other teams.

When customers had purchased their engines, they had already done a lot of design and development work with the chassis, without getting the details until they sign the contract.

By this point it is too late to change all the chassis development, so haven't actually got a car anything like Mercedes to take full advantage of what makes that unit so much better than the competition.

Now, with the Honda engine, McLaren are working directly with them and developing the chassis with Honda too, so any advantages Honda bring should hopefully see McLaren able to take advantage of it.

There is an interview on the F1 site with Honda who confirm that all development has been done very closely between both companies.

The customers have restricted engines?
Surely this isn't the case?

That's the thing. It's an unknown the Honda/McLaren chassis to engine match
McLaren is a massive gamble.. Going from ferrari

For someone like RG in Lotus. That's a different story

I may well support McLaren (well Honda) going forward
Big Honda fan.

(really hope Honda do develop a new s2000 in next 5 years
New civic R is out 2015..nsx and s2000 rumours.. And the civic advert looks awesome

Not sure it is restricting the engine as such, more that the 'works team' will be given all of the info and have input into it so they will inherently gain ad advantage.

If Alonso is serious about winning another championship he needs to leave Ferrari, even a move to Williams would be worth considering judging how well Bottas is doing.

I don't think Vettel has it in him to do what Schumi did to Ferrari so he's better of staying at RB.

I don't think Williams will be able to maintain this. Would love to be wrong as I have no idea about their budget.
