It's all part of the rich tapestry of F1 :)
Am I nuts? I really enjoy these fascinating anomalies that occour in this sport.
It's a Sunday afternoon, I have already folded up all the washing, tidied up my living room and discussed many a point regarding the "race" with the Mrs :D

Really sad to see all the spectators just waiting around for hours without seeing any action. They could have just called it off and rescheduled for tomorrow instead of having them stand around in this weather. Refund to those that cant make it tomorrow.

The forecast for tomorrow didn't sound great either. Plus they may not be able to get enough marshals tomorrow as they'd all be back to their day jobs.

Doesn't look too bad around most of the track. But that's a road car not F1. Lots of standing water off track, but F1 cars shouldn't be there anyway. Bottom of the hill looks to be the worst area.

Good for a race start? I don't know. Marginal if anything.

I have a strange fascination in how long commentators can talk without anything interesting to say, they've got some time to go yet until they live up to Canada's bird watching antics but we're getting there :D

Luckily David Croft can talk a lot of ******* as standard. Its probably harder shutting him up! Haha!

The couple of years with the teams making paper or drinks can boats while waiting for the weather. :D

Japan 2017 for one, can't remember the other..

So they're using the medical car to test the track conditions because the safety car is technically supposed to be holding the whole grid in the pits and just telling everyone to stay in the pits whilst the safety car goes out requires too much common sense.

So if the race is abandoned, do the grid penalties for Bottas, Stroll and Norris carry forward to the next race?

Interesting... If we do the 2 laps and 50% points, they will have served their penalty.

If the race is abandoned... I genuinely don't know. In theory the grid took place and they served their penalties there. But no race... Hmmm....

I'll send a tweet to SkyF1/Brundle/Crofty (done - added in Mercedes, Aston Martin and McLaren too)

I doubt the FIA have a clue either, that's why they're desperately trying to reach some sort of resolution here, even if it's a couple of laps.

Half of this confusion was caused by them not starting the race after the formation lap, I'd never seen that before and assumed the graphics were wrong when it still showed formation lap.

Must have seen dozens of safety car starts and the lap counter always started ticking after the formation lap, why today was different I dunno.....
