Oh dear Lewis that move smacked of desperation IMO
This Red Bull really is taking the mickey.
Even during Mercs domination and Lewis starting so far back (ironically alongside Alonso!) he barely scraped the podium.

Eyebrows raised

I can understand calling your guy’s opponent names whilst they’re fighting for the championship, in the heat of all that etc. But calling Lewis names now just smacks of having a massive chip on your shoulder - and is a rather lame attempt at belittling him.
Calling anyone juvenile names shows a huge lack of intelligence and low 'wit'...

Well just watched this one recorded on 4.0x speed after watching the first 5-6 laps at normal speed, still feel like I wasted 30 mins of my life. Has to be one of the most dull, and utterly boring Spa GP's I can remember. For someone to vote a 10 you can tell they support the winning driver not the racing, which was almost non-existent and almost going back to previous seasons viewing experience.

DOTD - Nigel Mansell for nipping to the Co-op for a pint of milk.

Snooze-ville. Population everyone who isn't a Max or Red Bull fan. I did win £27.50 from £10 after Max won but that was the only good thing about it. Every other team may as well give up on this year and start putting more into next years car at this rate.

I really enjoyed it.
Max was amazing, the car was amazing.
I did find it funny how basically everyone let him through as they knew it would hurt them. Sad but sensible

Loads of mid field action and to his credit Ocon did really well. More drives like that and I'll be happy he's in the team as I've been critical.

Alonso finally got some deserved luck with Hamilton closing him out it actually ended badly for Hamilton. It even did alonso a favour. Because Hamilton would have got him.

Mclaren no points, alpine loads of points. Yay!

Oh, lolclerc. That was quite funny at the end. The team and driver that have self sabotaged their entire last 3/4s of the season!

Enjoyed it.

8/10

Damm wow you enjoyed it?

Strange but each to their own!

I didn't enjoy it personally because there wasn't too much battles going on, especially at the top.

Max car was over a second quicker than the closest car and I think max even lapped a few cars which is quite a feat in spa as it's the longest track in the calendar right?

Hamilton admitted it was his fault so we should move on from that as there is no debate to have on that really.

Overall it was a bit boring the race on my favourite f1 circuit so I was a bit hyped for it

I thought there were plenty of battles going on, but their were boring. There was no strategy element really to speak of, and outside of a pile up at the start it was obvious max was going to win. It was made worse by both alpha tauris suddenly starting at the back of the grid.

Had Lewis not made that mistake, he would likely have been fighting for second place which would have added a bit of fun as Ferrari would have imploded with Sainz as well as Leclerc.

Max and Red Bull in a league of their own here.

Ferrari embarrassing themselves again.

Lewis' move was far too ambitious and he should have known Alonso would not yield to him. He had such a good start he should have held it in third until DRS came on as the Merc was much faster in the race than the Alpine. Shame, because he likely would have beaten Sainz and got on the podium again.

Alonso's smack talk was pretty embarrassing considering Lewis has more wins NOT from pole, than Alonso has all together. Pretty funny seeing how bitter and butthurt he is every race weekend.

It was an exciting start, but it became clear very early that Max was going to win and then got quite dull. Absolutely silly pace.

Thoughts on the state of the teams after the break?

Red Bull are now clear no.1. Ferrari's early season ability to mix it with them is gone, but they are at least now putting clear water between them and Mercedes. Merc meanwhile continue to have a completely inconsistent car, going from have leader matching pace at one race to miles off the pace in quali and third fastest in the race at the next. Alpine seem to have pulled ahead of McLaren - who, admittedly, had their one driver starting from the back.

Alfa are a lonely 6th in a field of one.

Meanwhile in the just-better-than-Williams pack, Aston have now outscored Haas and AlphaTauri in three consecutive races and look like they may well secure 7th place by season's end. A nice turnaround from looking like they'd be racing only Williams at the start of the season. Haas seem to have lost their early season promise and I can seem them slumping to a disappointing 9th.

Albon, meanwhile, is finding something in that Williams and proving himself deserving of a seat. One wonders who will be pairing him next season.

Max went through the field without anyone challenging him which I can understand what makes it worse it was the same when he got near the front no one challenged him so yeah it was boring credit to RedBull with the car and Max still had to avoid getting hit at the start but its boring worrying for the rest of the season unless you love MAX and RedBull , rest of the race wasnt entertaining either probably the dullest race so far

scrap for 2nd could be interesting even with Merc being poor in qualifying race day they are different if George had few more laps he would have been all over Sainz

I enjoyed it - 8/10 for me, enough battles throughout the midfield to keep it interesting, and still enjoy watching Spa for the absolute on-the-edge performance that the circuit demands.

Ferrari's myriad of Plans (Plan D?) raised a chuckle even from my wife, and they still managed to mess up even with the increased communication between Pit and Driver regarding strategy.

Max/Red Bull were in a league of their own - outside of any major reliability drama or rule breaks being discovered, can't see the championship going any other way that to Max.

Fair play to Lewis - in one of the interviews (certainly the one shown on Breakfast news this morning), he held his hands up and fully admitted responsibility.

Race was meh, knew from Friday Max was gonna win so bit disappointing from that side of things but some ok battles lower down the field, too much DRS but Ocon especially pulled off a couple of really nice moves.

I'd agree with most of that really.

I'd say Merc can still overtake Ferrari really, if Hamilton hadn't screwed up they would've got 4th and 5th at a minimum, Hamilton has outraced Russell most of the season so taking 3rd off Sainz may have been possible and that's at a bad track for the Merc which as you say is way too inconsistent. I still kinda expect a Merc (and even Hamilton) win before the end of the season but we'll see. Ferrari will undoubtedly continue to mess up strategy and also get engine penalties at least for Sainz but probably both before the season is over. But then it's likely Merc will take a 4th engine too.

The McLaren is again an inconsistent one so not sure I'd say Alpine have pulled ahead given the races before the break, but we'll see, should be a nice close race for 4th in constructors between them I think.

But then it's likely Merc will take a 4th engine too.
What’s the deal with engines etc for RB? Pretty sure I heard Max has taken his “last” but unsure exactly what that means. Definitely seemed like they had a new Uber-one with the pace it gifted him.

The Merc is such a strange car. It looks decidedly midfield in qualifying and I think its only really the talent of the drivers helping them stay just about third fastest there. The RB and Ferrari whack top times in on their first go, but the Merc always scrapes by on their final run.

In the race though, they are clearly third fastest by a good margin and looking maybe like they could challenge the Ferrari soon.

The Red Bull, especially with Max in it is just far too good for any other driver/team pairing right now.

I don't care about the front, I support alpine.
And there was loads of great battling in the mid field. Ocon did 2 double overtakes for example . There was stuff going on all the way through.

If you're a Hamilton supporter or only follow the front you definitely won't like this. And I'm guessing that's why the race got voted so low.

I can respect max and rbr for that drive. The reason no one battled was because they set that bar.

But yeah I loved it
