Benitez unleashes on Ferguson

No, I wasn't.

I don't think in the same way as the bookies and I don't know what every other Liverpool fan was thinking.

What I do know is Stoke is a difficult place to go, United scraped a win there, Arsenal lost there, as did Spurs and as did Villa. I did my research and adjusted my expectations accordingly.

Sorry to go totally off-topic, but if you still bet, the BDO Darts final has a 96% book if you want to make a few quid, 8/11 Hankey at VC and 13/8 O'Shea at Blue Sq :)

You sit there, your team top of the table and tell us all with a straight face, "yeah 0-0 at 4th from bottom stoke, good result actually all that can be expected really, we are only fielding £128 million pounds worth of players so yeah, all in all just what was expected"

That wasn't what he said though. All he said was that it was a harder game than some are making out. You sit here every week with your side League and European Champions and say you're going to lose.

No i dont , I say we are going to loose when i think we are going to loose.
Chelsea away, i said- loss. result - scrapped a draw.
Arsenal away i said, 1-0 to arsenal. result- 2-1 to Arsenal.
Liverpool away, i said, united to win, result- 2-1 to liverpool.

Tomorrow, Chelsea come to old trafford, not only with an outstanding away record this season, but an outstanding record at old trafford regardless of which playing staff or manager either side have.

United are playing with no guile, pace commitment or quality anywhere on the pitch and have struggled against even the weakest sides in the league this season. hence why i have said "united to loose by X" more often than usual because they are rubbish. I also said at the beginning of the season i'm expecting nothing more than a display of utter mediocrity A, because were are the only side in the premiership years to win three on the spin, and have only done it once, B historically in the prem, if we've done two on the spin we have been utterly abject the next season. C he signed the wrong players when the season started, and hasnt shipped out any of the dead wood. and D he let Carlos go AGAIN.
So tomorrow, chelsea to win 2-0.

There is no way any liverpool fan has been saying this season, away at stoke, tough fixture, 0-0 is a good result, they have won less than half their home games and average a goal a game so far this season.

Did you not agree with somebody saying that Utd would lose to Southampton? Not to mention your countless rants at Fergie's selections costing Utd only for them to end up winning.

Where's anybody said it was a good result?

Bingo.

Actually, Stoke should have been beaten, they aren't very good. The stuck everyone behind the ball against us and we were awful, we didn't scrape a 1-0 because they were good, we scraped a 1-0 because we were awful.

Liverpool should have blown them away.

As for the comment above from Tombstone I think saying that if they (Liverpool) win, and Chelsea don't win, then you have a 5 point gap, but the case that might be, your threat was Manchester United and their games in hand.

As it stands though, I don't think we'll beat Chelsea tomorrow playing as we are. We need Rooney to be amazing.

This is Wengers take on the Rafa's remarks:

Wenger is unwilling to add his opinion to the reasons behind the argument.

The French tactician would rather focus on matches upon the full-time whistle, although he admits there are instances where one needs to comment on officials as he did recently on Lee Mason after their 2-2 draw at Aston Villa.

"It came as a complete surprise, because he is usually a quiet man and I would not like to comment further on that. I do not know what it was really about," said Wenger.

"I do not know what he [Ferguson] is doing - you do not know either, nobody knows in the country!

"But if Alex Ferguson, or Benitez or I do something which is not right, you have people around the referees who can make reports.

"I believe it is important we focus on the game, if we see something abnormal we can say it, which I did at Aston Villa after the game.

"But apart from that, I couldn't see any deep problem there with English football.

"It is hard to determine what influence this will have on the results of the teams."

Thing is, the result today didn't help. As was said on MOTD, Benitez NEEDED his players to perform today.

At the end of the season, if they lose the title by <5 points, I think the 'Pool fans will look back at matches like this, and wonder "What if...?".

I hate to bang the same old drum, but one of the big reasons Man United have enjoyed huge success in the past 15 years is that SAF can drill his players with the ability to play poorly and still pick up three points. I mean take a look at our last half a dozen or so matches. I think we've been one of the worst teams in the top half of the table - no desire, no invention, nobody grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck and dictating play.

But still, we're picking up points. Still grinding out those 1-0 wins.

It's something that no other team bar JM's Chelsea have been able to replicate. And it's something that Benitez will need to teach his players before they lift a Premiership trophy.

Jose rejects Rafa's complaints

Jose Mourinho has rejected Rafa Benitez's claims that Manchester United receive preferential treatment from referees.

Benitez launched an outspoken attack against United boss Ferguson on Friday accusing the Scot of getting away with criticising referees.

The tirade has caused ripples throughout the footballing world with many observers expressing their views of the incident.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho, who does not enjoy a good relationship with old rival Benitez, has added his opinion and he believes the Spaniard's criticisms are wide of the mark.

"I played at Old Trafford many times, including a few wins, and never saw anything strange," Mourinho told the Italian media.

"It is only normal that a referee will feel under pressure in an atmosphere like that with 80,000 people."

Football is such a crock of ****.

All the rubbish thats put through the media to hype the sport up and make it seem like something important is going on. Endless observers, comments, tirades, attacks. What a load of nonsense.

The games in hand wouldnt have bothered me though, had we won against stoke, even if Man U won today and then won their games in hand they still would have been behind Liverpool. However the fact that we drew yesterday has changed all that, had we won we still would have been on top with the ball in our court so to speak.

I know, but its a laugh watching how some people are getting wound up over these things, eh Rafa?

I don't think winning when we've been playing poorly has been a problem for us this season. We started the season very poorly and tbh i don't think we've gone on any decent run of good performances at all this season either but we're still right up there. Of course if we play poorly too often then we're bound to drop points eventually like we did yesterday, like Chelsea have done at home and like you've done earlier in the season away from home.

The reason why we may finish behind you and Chelsea would simply be down to the quality of our squad rather than our ability to win when we play poorly.
