Bent CPU Pins?

I don't know much about the technical side of this, but I would be almost certain he is trying to pull a fast one because he is refusing to give you any pictures. "its too small to take a photo of" is not a real issue, any compact camera could do it. Sounds like he is trying to avoid giving you any proof, and instead accusing you and hoping that "make money iligaly i.e selling a broken motherbourd label'd working" will have you running scared from the cyber-poh-lize.

I have no idea how these kinds of issues work on ebay, but I would hope that ebay staff could see right through it and realise this guy is a borderline retard who was never educated beyond primary school English.

He will have to take pictures for ebay anyway i think if he expects to get a result?

Get in there first and fire a message off to both ebay and paypal explaining the situation and include the picture you have of the socket and his messages in with it and explain how it looks like hes scamming you, which it does, from what he`s wrote its like he was prepared for this from the off as if it were planned, he seems to think hes got the answer for every question and now hes accusing you of fraud which isnt acceptable when youre trying your utmost to resolve the matter by asking for further pictures, also add in about how the pins dont stick up straight anyway and that you can only assume he`s mistaken that theyre broken.

i went through a similar thing and by the time the buyer put in a claim for my item it was instantly dismissed because i forewarned them.

When(date) did you sold your GD80 on eBay?

The reason I was asking you, the day he received it he should have checked the board for any damages and get back to you straight away and not leave it for 4 to 5 days, then he contact you. Like others said, ask him to send you some photo for proof and contact Ebay before he contacts them. Make sure you remove your money from your Paypal account to your bank account so that Paypal cannot just go ahead and refund him.

For future reference check the buyers feedback to see what they have purchased within 1-6months and to see what problems, if any they've had etc.
Usually, when I sell the computer stuff on Bay I take all the photographs of motherboard, cpu, sockets and pins and serial number for my reference. I also email the photographs to the buyer with a note attached.

Don't give him a refund until you recieve photo's of the board.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I have transferred the money out of PayPal as, being a student I kind of really needed it, which is why this is so annoying.

I will inform him that the pins should be at an angle, although he does say this is like his third gaming rig he has built, but it does sound odd, he said "but i mean 1156 pins are bent downwards and some look like a dogs chewd on them", which does support the fact he says 'ALL' pins, so he might not know they should be at an angle, but then he goes on to say it is so bad it is like something chewed on them, which is impossible as I have no pets and I certainly didn't decide to have a munch on it.

I will tell him I am not doing a thing without picture evidence sent, and I think I will contact eBay and give them a heads up.

Well, this is the picture he managed to take:

It is not so great, but I think I can see where the pins are supposed to be damaged. This is not evident at all on m picture, so I really don't know what happened here. I have asked if it is possible for him to take a better picture, and perhaps help point them out by highlighting damaged areas.

Nice blurry picture. You can't even make out the pins.

Is that a scratch on left of the picture by the CPU socket screw?

Did your motherboard have that when you sent it?

Awful picture he will have to upload another to get anywere - Either way sounds like hes fked it and blaming you, ebay isnt a good place for sellers were things cant easily be proved in your favor :/

Lesson next time photo the board well seriel numbers ect so you can definatly prove to ebay it was fine.

I can see bent pins in the top right, nearer to the center, about 6/7 bent up in a straight line beside the black plastic.
This is not the same as on your socket picture in the OP. He's obviously done it himself unless you tried to force the socket protector on.

I think your buyer may well have been caught red handed if I am right;). I have rotated these pics to be re-aligned, so a better comparison can be made.

Look at the socket features including exterior especially top left. I think he took the pic of a different mobo socket.

That is a different SOCKET! :O

Look at the edges of the socket, the very plastic edges. The orginal has no square-like holes in it. The buyers does.

You're being scammed, well you got the ****ER this time! Tell him you know it's a different socket, because you compared photo's, but do not send him it or he'll nab it in any defence.

hats off to wingzero!! ever likely he didnt want to take a picture.

document it all and use the pictures wingzero has made and get a message to paypal and ebay letting them know the score. definitely cant wait to hear the buyers response.

Yup OP:cool:

Whatever you do, only send all the evidence directly to ebay and paypal. Don't tell him that you have spotted the differences and hence he is wrong. Otherwise he may just photoshop the pics.
