Bent CPU Pins?

Just read this thread and before I got to the pics I was gonna mention that he may be trying to give you another dodgy board.

Excellent work, OcUK detectives F.T.W

What did i tell you SCAMMER SCAMMER SCAMMER
eGGGGay is full of em

You can quite clearly see that is a differant socket in the details HOW EVER DID HE THINK HE WOULD GET AWAY WITH IT (sorry for the shouting i just hate ebay, As a seller that is)

This is a true story on www.paypalsucks.com
Guy sells golf clubs to a scammer on ebay for £600
Buyer pays through paypal then said "i will pick them up if ok"
seller meets buyer as buyer turns up to pick up clubs
seller hands over the golf clubs (£600 sale Paid through paypal remember)
6 weeks later £600 deducted from sellers ebay account as buyer said HE NEVER RECIEVED THEM and got a full refund WITHOUGHT contacting the seller first

NOTHING THE SELLER COULD DO he lost £600 as there was NO proof the buyer came to pick them up

So also remember IF someone buys from you and pays paypal then wants to pick them up GET A PHOTO of both of you together and a signed invioce/reciept

Thanks a lot guys, I have send a message to eBay with a tonne of evidence, explaining the whole situation. Hopefully things will pan out well. I haven't replied to the buyer yet, should I tell him I caught him out and have reported him to eBay?

It is strange though, he has like over 100 positive feedback at 100%, yet he is clearly scamming, I don't understand how he expects to get away with it, as he would clearly have to send his broken one to me and I would know that it is not the item I sent him.

I too have had a postman sign a package, saying 'letterbox' and simply posting it. Makes sense I suppose, i'd prefer that then him banging on the door making me get out of bed :p

Well, I told eBay, and their reply seemed like a generic response, as if they didn't even read my message. They simply stated that 'sorry the transaction didn't go as smooth as hoped, you stated you would accept returns, so this is how you should do it, thanks'.
I replied telling them again that I will not refund him as it is not my board that is broken. He is keeping my working board and trying to return his broken one to me for a full refund. I just hope they listen this time. eBay are useless!

Sorry to hear that my friend but that's EXACTLY the response when I was scammed with my evga 760 classified.
You will end up having to refund him.
It sucks I know but you will find he will not respnd to any more messages.
He knew what he was doing when he bought the board and he knew how to get away with it.
Sorry but I don't know how to help you because I tried everything and the ebay customer services were a disgrace, I ended up closing my account while being as verbally abusive as I could without getting arrested.

Is it not possible to just close both ebay and paypal accounts without having to pay him the money?

Paypal will take the money from OP regardless.
If OP closes account they'll still refund the scammer, then sell the debt to a company which will chase you.

Happened to me with a 4870x2, costly.. I'd only just turned 18 at the time... Lost 180 quid.

ahh but from the sound of it ebay assume this is to be sorted via returns so the seller has to receive the board before he is obliged to refund the buyer. with a bit of luck the buyer wont send it recorded in which case you just say it never arrived so you dont have to refund him and they cant take the money from you either.

FYI id of contacted paypal rather than ebay as they seem a bit better at handling things like this from my experience.

Paypal are a bunch of cowboys regardless.

who cares if it gets a result though, lesson learnt for the op.

I'm pessimistic about issues like this, I can see it going the scammers way regardless.

While OP can say the buyer has posted a picture of a socket that isn't of his board, the scammer can resort to "He's taken a picture of a socket that isn't the board he sold me".

Ha ha, yes, I do always have his address in the event it doesn't go my way :p

It was just a message to eBay to inform them of this guy in case he took it further, so they hear it from me first. I replied to them saying I was not going to refund him as, like I showed them, it is clearly a different socket.

I then messaged the guy and said I could tell it was different from the one I sent and in no way I was going to refund him, and that I had told eBay about it. He was usually quick to respond yesterday, but I haven't heard from him for several hours now, so I am hoping he got the message and has just admitted defeat and that he got caught. He hasn't filed a claim or anything, he said he preferred not to resort to that, probably because he knew he was wrong, so I'm hoping this is the last of it and he's just chickened out of it. If he does continue this on it will be a real pain in the rear.

You should report this to the police, get a case number, then give the case number to Paypal and eBay. Let the buyer know too - usually shuts them right up.

I always mark my items in UV highlighter and accept returns (without giving refund first) and if the guy is trying to scam I notify the police.
