trouble is ebay and paypal will side with him, your only chance now is to email him the 2 pictures and show him he is trying to scam you
hats off to wingzero!! ever likely he didnt want to take a picture.
document it all and use the pictures wingzero has made and get a message to paypal and ebay letting them know the score. definitely cant wait to hear the buyers response.
Excellent spot there WingZero - it is indeed a completely different socket.
It looks like it the same type of socket used in this DFI P55 board and completely different from the socket the one the OP photographed himself.
Look at the bottom right resistor in the centre of the socket, its clearly different
and the capacitors and lines on the left aswell as the socket clamp.
bang to rights.
Guy's, you're missing the obvious we spotted earlier!
Look at the plastic around the socket, with the holes in it.
yer but im just syaing theres more differences too
Holy crap I believe you are right! Looking at the bigger picture of my board I believe that screw bit, where the CPU cage clips under, is also different?

Either way, I think that is evidence enough. I will send this straight to eBay! Would I have to tell both eBay and PayPal?
This really is an amazing development! I cannot thank you all enough, especially you WingZero! I am determined to win this for all sellers who are being screwed over by scammers! I think this may be the last time I use eBay now though.
Thanks again, I will keep you all informed of how it goes if you are interested.
Good stuff. Trouble is, he will get a full refund from the pocket of Paypal and try again with someone else. Isn't this like... straight up fraud?
The funniest scam I ever witnessed on ebay was sending an item to have the buyer message me days later saying he never got it. I tracked the parcel and I had his signature. He obviously forgot I recorded it. His excuse (days later) was that the postman signed for him and stole the item.
