Unfortunately BT are phasing out all fixed speed connections over the next six months. All ipstream users will be required to transfer to ADSL Max. I'm guessing there'll be quite a few folks with long lines causing quite a bit of fuss come the time.

As Max is rate adaptive, that combined with BT's BRAS profiling system can see your speeds right down to 100-200k/sec so under that system users with long lines won't even get their usual 512/1/2.

We have just received a communication from Entanet.
From the 9th October there will be a 6 month promotion to allow free re-grades in-between products (e.g. from Home to Premium etc) marking a saving of £5 + VAT per re-grade.

More importantly, BT have intimated that they will be ceasing the fixed line 512k, 1mb and 2mb product lines in this timescale.

As I have only used ADSL24 I cant compare it to what other Enta resellers have, but ADSL24 do say theres is developed in-house so I guess it is different.

It is also pretty much everything you could possible need, a very nice feature is the daily e-mail usage reports and if thats not enough you can use the Enta Tool to track useage in real time.

Your info is correct. Enta and their partners are offering free regrades in preparation for the switch over. BT need to address the problem of bonding MAX before they can turn legacy connections off.

LLU is when a ISP installs their equipment in the exchange. Some ISP's (such as Be*) place equipment that is capable of ADSL2+ so you can get upto 24Mbps.

Axer, yes. ADSL24 is a Enta reseller so you will get the same basic connection with Vivaciti, Aquiss, UKFSN, etc.

ADSL Max is the "up to 8mb" service where speeds depend on the distance from the exchange and line quality etc.
21 CN is eeerrrrrrrr BT's new fandangled 21st century network thingy, sorry I don't know what it is. Possibly somthing to do with fibre to the home/exchange who knows (google will).

Unlucky, but the only LLU provider I would ever consider is BE who I "think" have stopped enabling new exchanges, or maybe I heard that wrong. I know my exchange had a enablement date and then was removed.

YoungBlood, I'm with UK Online for LLU and they've been really good. They put my speed up to 24 meg (from 22 meg) as my line's so good and here are my stats:

YoungBlood, I'm with UK Online for LLU and they've been really good. They put my speed up to 24 meg (from 22 meg) as my line's so good and here are my stats:

UK Online are in my exchange as it happens. If I remember right the only reason I did'nt go with them was because of there 12 month contracts so maybe I was a little hasty in saying I would only go with BE, but I have no idea what I could do with 24meg I don't think I could handle the power

On another note, I am right in assuming that UK Online is part of Easynet which is owned by SKY so if you have UK Online it's technicaly a SKY reseller?

It is all in preparation to the switch off. It works out better for Enta/ISP's to move over connections in their own time then have to rush when BT get the official date out.

As mentioned in that thread, fixed rate services aren't disappearing even in the 21CN timescale - it'll be replaced by a rate adaptive service with the speeds capped.

BE had an enablement for my exchange but also removed it..
