Best Looking Console Game this gen.

Well im not gonna list the games others have already mentioned, so i'll throw Ferrari Challenge and F1 CE into the mix. Both look quality especially in the rain!

Also can't believe nobody has mentioned GT5P? Just wow.

I think I know what Robert1986 is talking about with not telling the difference.

I remember reading somewhere a while back something along the lines of 30 vs 60 fps? Where because it's doubling up the difference doesnt have an adverse effect

And on topic. Metal gear solid 4, Or Uncharted. Also, If we are going for purely good looking, So stutters and popins don't come into play. Mass Effect, Once the graphics have popped in and shaded the models, Its beautiful.

I guess there is a difference there to some degree but its a lot like trying to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. You'd only really be able to tell them apart if you look closely or have them side by side. I might be wrong, but I've never really had a problem playing games at 30fps.

30FPS games are fine, as long as the framerate is constant. Even at higher FPS, when it starts jumping about is when you get problems.

PGR4 is a solid 30FPS, and is as smooth as anything.

I highly doubt that.

:)

Your doubt has no influence on the accuracy of my statement.

Try playing quake 3 Arena with the cap at 200, and then lower it to 100. It's very easy to tell and I'm not special in my ability to easily perceive this.

Anyway, I really loved Bioshock as the style has more influence than raw poly count for me when considering the best looking game.

Halo 3 for the great colour, lighting effects and the huge scale
Gears of war 2 for the scale
Killzone two for the character models :O

Poor example Kreee, since the FPS limit has a direct change to the way the physics of the world is represented. Thats why people play particular FPS limits (either 125 or 333) since it alters the physics to allow them to do higher jumps and the like...

Mine has to be Wii Sports - its like photo-realistic...

ps3ud0

To be a little different i'm voting for GRID. Was really impressed with this game on the panny. Also wipeout was pretty amazing running the way it did on the panny

If you think GRID looks good on a console, then play it on a decent spec'd PC, with VSYNC on locked at 60FPS... Simply amazing... Blows the consoles out the water, and if you are like me, and insist 60fps for a driving game then GRID on PC is the ONLY way to play the game.

Truth is, i really think you have no idea.. Sorry.

Weird, i played F1 and though WHY o WHY did they not make this game 60fps... At 30FPS it's ugly... At least to me, i respect everyone elses opinion.

And don't ask me why but jaggies ARE SO MUCH more noticable on 30fps locked games... Maybe cos it doesn't run smooth and seemless they become a lot more apparent... Same goes for PGR4 and PGR3, throw on Burnout Paradise, and it you think the two are in the same league, then i'm simply amazed as the differences to me are like oggling at a stunner compared to a munter !

Nor does it attempt to. However the fact remains that your statement is inaccurate.

Either you have assumed a knowledge of the visual capability of everyone on the planet, or you were careless in your choice of words.

:)

That is the same for me. I can't tell if a driving game is 30 or 60 FPS but I can sure as hell spot when its not stable.

Explain to me how games look worse at a lower frame rate?

If a game isn't as smooth as it could be then it doesn't look as good. What more is there to explain ?.. At 30fps a game isn't silky smooth regardless of how high the detail is or how much motion blur the developers have added... Obviously a thing of preference to some, some people are happy at 30fps with all the detail turned on, some people snarl at it and always insist on 60fps... I'm the latter...

MGS4 / Gears both do an excellent job with cinematics and camera shake... But still are only 30fps... Imagine how much better they'd of looked at 60fps.. And believe you me, had the developers had the extra horse power they'd of done it.....

I very rarely notice differences between frame rates. Especially on consoles as there's no FRAPS to use :p

The only game I have really noticed low framerate on is GTAIV. This was even more apparant when playing it straight after a session on Burnout.
