I've never used the RAT3, 5 or 7 plugged in, I've held the 3 and 7 on a display stand and it feels the same as the 7. It has weights in it so you can change that if you want, the tracking has been fine for me with no noticable lag.
I'm not the most experienced person with mouses though, you're probably better off looking at reviews.
As for wired vs wireless, IMO wireless is much better for gaming (assuming you have a good mouse). I used to get the wire caught up on stuff on my desk and after it's been tidied away a few times the cable (unless it's braided) starts to get kinked and gets even more caught up. I dunno about the Mamba but the RAT9 comes with 2 batteries so if you do get caught out, it's pretty fast to swap them.
