Best Retro Handheld

There was one left on an Aliexpress store in white at a good price so went for it. Black or white wasnt available at the time on UK stores e.g. whatgeek

I got it from Aliexpress, £53.59. The SP was £40 and the 40xxV was £61, the Miyoo Mini Plus was £62 last year.

Those who have Rp5's on order, how has DHL handled the import duty?
I've got one on order, according to goretroid it's not processed yet but i've had a voicemail from DHL saying I need to pay duty. Called DHL via the number on the website (not the number that rang) and they don't have a record of the purported waybill number.....

Yes, had to the pay the charge.

DHL have just delivered the PR5 :D

It's a Christmas present though, so likely just make sure it works and pass it back to be wrapped :(

Cheers.
Contacted DHL and they had no record of the shipping number. Retroid confirmed they hadn’t shipped the item yet but it go this week.
Just had a notification off DHL and retroid that it has now shipped…… using the same shipping number as was in the initial voicemail….

Trust me, it's not unlike DHL to be utterly useless with communication, even on a commercial level. :P

Are man, you got ripped off :D I paid £47.87 delivered for the Brick. MM+ with a 64GB games card came to £27.31 delivered.
I sold the MM+ and might also sell my RP Mini. RP5 is in the post and still undecided on what I do with that. It's so refreshing running MinUI on the Brick as it means I just play games instead of installing and configuring the device (well, not as much as I would others)

Might just get a Modretro Chromatic bundled with Tetris - Then I can only play that!

Brick is going well for now. I would say its a slightly smaller, lighter and more powerful RG35XX+ with a much better screen and better made. Feels solid, no rogue inputs on the dpad and face buttons are nice, if slightly clicky for my liking.

Not sure why that 1st Miyoo Mini + cost £60! lol ah well. That was off Aliexpress as well. But then at least it is still working, unliky the RG35xxH which just stopped booting for no reason. The same SD card works for a different RGxx console but not the H.

My Brick has been shipped!

What are the next generation of PC handhelds coming out soon?
Not sure about next gen, but I believe the 'best' handheld is the Asus ROG Ally X - https://uk.store.asus.com/rog-ally-x-264368466-90nv00f1-m001b0.html
Depends what people mean by best though, I like portability and recently love MinUI the RG Brick. I have more powerful handhelds but it just become an endless configuration and curation cycle

I like that site, thanks!
Whats all the fuss about this Smart Brick?
Some reviewers have state its a 'Miyoo mini plus killer' quite a big statement as that is (or was) the go to low end device running onion os for many people.
I've tried a Miyoo mini plus and in comparison the Brick is leagues ahead.

The screen is a bit smaller but everything is is better. Screen quality, build quality, performance, lighter, has bluetooth, internal storage, extra OTG port. The main thing though is the price is about the same as a MM+ latest version.
Overall, it just feels more premium with a screen that's 1024 x 768 instead of 640 x 480.

Just waiting on OS options being fleshed out (official Crossmix, maybe MuOS and improvements to MinUI) Im personally running MinUI.

Hmm interesting, with BT it supports BT headset?
Howabout performance? What emulation level does it go up to?

This is my goto doc for all retro handhelds in terms of performance, features etc. The brick device is row 18 atm. So it will play PS1 perfectly and anything above that will struggle.

I reckon its more or less the same as the Anbernic devices released this year that are talked about in this thread a lot, RGCube, RG35XX, RG40XX and the countless variants I can't recall!

Thank you for this link rp2000 (and Guest2) they are very useful to understand the capabilities of these handhelds, there are so many being released recently that I have lost track.

I have an ROG Ally. I skipped the X because I didnt see any great value to get one. Im considering the Claw 8+ but its not much of a jump in performance compared to the ROG Ally, but I do love the bigger screen.

I also have a Miyoo Mini+, but I always wanted to use wireless headphones with it. But does the Brick have this capability with its bluetooth function?
