Best Retro Handheld

Got my email at 7:50 this morning. I'm chuffed. :)
I just went for black. Boring I know but Russ off retro corps said it'll help with some games displaying side bars. Although I'd ordered it before I heard his comment. Wouldn't have minded the purple one though to be honest but I'm happy anyway.

Miyoo A30.

Initial impressions: - Face buttons are nice, size is great, comfortable, weights next to nothing. Screen is small but not bad.

£25 or so, comes with a nice case, albeit a bulky one for the size of the unit. Also comes with a USB-C to 3.5mm audio adaptor too

Yeah not worth it for the systems you'll be able to play on it due to the single stick.

Not to mention the vertical screen leans itself towards systems that are more retro, it doesn't really work for new games where they are all widescreen. Meaning it doesn't need all that power.

They also lock the retro looking colourway to the £600+ model too.

The whole thing is insane from the start to finish. It cost like 10x of the TrimUI Brick and probably going to end up playing the same kind of games on it anyway.

It does have a single stick but also next to the stick is a track pad. Not too sure what it'll be used for but interesting its there.

I use the trackpads quite a lot on my Steam deck when I do use it - general mouse movement on the desktop and for some games.

My RG Cube has arrived and having fun playing with it. What are the best frontends for android? Are the pay for apps worth it? Some of the options I have heard about.

Daijisho - free
ES-DE Frontend - pay
Launchbox - free/pay premium
Beacon - pay

Daijisho looks great and is free so definitely worth having a go.

I did buy ES-DE and prefer it over Daijisho but I'd suggest having a play with that first and see how you find it.

I still have both running on my Odin 2 actually.

Russ has a whole setup guide here for ES-DE.

Both he and Joey also have Daijisho ones, they are a bit older but don't think much will have changed.
