Best Retro Handheld

That's NOT the big bulky case? :D

But true it's hard to find a case that doesn't double them up in size; I normally just use cloth type bags, does protect them from impact but avoids screen scratches.

It came!
I love my trimui smart pro. I have a retroid pocket 5 but I actually use the tsp more.

I used to commute & travel with the Steam Deck but as I only really played retro games on it, I started looking at other devices that were more travel friendly.

After almost going with the Trimui Smart Pro, I decided on buying and modifying a Nintendo Switch Lite.

It's one I would suggest people consider given the good build quality and reasonable price.

Item delivered e-mail today but no parcel, wonderful.
Email sent to supplier, we shall see what happens.

... and I'm getting the run around on this. Supplier won't answer, both delivery companies stating it was delivered and I should claim off the other company. I can see me ending up out of pocket on this one. I've asked for a refund through PayPal but it's waiting for the supplier to respond now. Failing that it'll be credit card company.

Was it through Royal Mail or Evri?
Bought through UK whatgeek, shipped by yunexpress and delivery in UK by Amazon shipping. Parcel got all the way to Warrington which is about 20 miles away.
Supposedly delivered yesterday, other Amazon parcels were but not this one. Email to say it's been delivered.
So far I've contacted whatgeek who haven't answered, Amazon shipping have said it's delivered not our problem, I've asked for a refund through PayPal now but that's waiting for whatgeek to respond.
I've a sinking feeling that everyone's going to tell me to get stuffed :(

You may not get any joy until after Chinese New Year holidays.

Im having a bit of a nightmare trying to get CrossMix OS onto my TrimUI Smart Pro ... i suspect it might be dodgy SanDisk SD cards that I have. The console doesnt seem to want to mount the SD card. However after creating the CrossMix card on my PC and then putting it into the console, it seems to rename the drive. Im trying another card, but it takes ages to build a fresh SD card :(

RP5 owners, the new Ryan Retro video has a guide on adding an app to improve the sound quality of the device. It add a little latency, but wow does it improve the sound

oooh, I will check it out...I do think the speakers are a bit crap on it.

Finally got my TSP sorted out ... Crossmix 1.0.3 with TrimUI Hotfix 9 loaded up with decent curated ROMs

Loving this device, I got the TrimUI Brick still incoming, but im going to load it up with purely Nintendo games up DS level.

Hopefully the Linux support for the RP5 keeps developing so that we can get away from the Android experience. The current state is clearly in beta.
I was so close to getting the RP5 for hopefully decent Batocera support, but glad I didn't based on this. Does it show improvement at least?

I got the Retroid Flip and that confirmed for me I was never going to get on with Android on a dedicated device.

I also have the Retroid Flip, but the RP5 is a much snappier device, much better gaming device than the Flip. May be because i installed an older version of Emulation Station on there and the UI is not as nice as the one I choice on the RP5, but the RP5 allows me to play PS2 games that I think the Flip might struggle? Anyway, the screen on the RP5 is also much better too.

No, however I'm mostly happy now with Android and ES-DE. It's just such a bad experience compared to the Linux based devices, and the ergonomics really are terrible.

It's quite a miracle to play PS2, DC, GameCube, N64, PSP, Vita (limited support), DS, 3DS, and Switch all on one very portable device though. It's really a great PSP and DS/3DS experience, especially as you don't need the second analog stick.

If they released a mini version of the steam deck I'd buy that and flog this on, and keep my RG35XXSP with KNULLI for PS1 and below.

Managed to follow a guide to do HD texture and widescreen hack for the GC. Running 2x Native with widscreen, stable 30fps.

Even figured out how to fix the inverted X-axis too, which was driving me nuts!

For now, I consider my Steam Deck to be best retro handheld, though it's a bit too bulky for that usecase, but I've been looking at one of Anbernic's vertical handheld offerings, but I can't decide which one I want to go for, RG35XX or RG35V, I'm probably gonna have to look at the games I intend to play and decide if I need the joysticks or not.

Analogue Pocket would be nice to have, there's something appealing about playing games natively, or at least as close to natively as possible, but it's quite expensive.

And while I was typing this, I came across TrimUI Brick, it does look really nice, so many choices, I can't make my mind up.

With my PSP disks all falling apart I am looking for a PSP handheld that is vita sized, is 16:9 and is powerful enough for 2x psp resolution which is think is roughly 720p. And it can't be the Anbernic 405m 16:9 equivalent as I have that one so I would like something different lol

I'm definitely enjoying my 405M though, I've basically completed GT2 on it now
