Best Retro Handheld

What are the preferred large screen options these days?
Odin 3 isn't out yet, starts shipping at end of November but that's likely to be a banger. Is a 6" screen.

Konkr Pocket Fit from Ayaneo is another option.

Retroid also have some new devices on the way but think screen sizes are a bit smaller.

What size you looking for and any budget constraints? A Steam Deck could be an option.

How does every deal with multi disk games? I have some Amiga classics I'm playing and the manual disk change is pretty clunky. On top of that, I've had it where it's been unable to do either the eject or mount and had to restart the game. Is there a more elegant / reliable method for this?

With Amiga games you are better off trying to find the whdload version of the game assuming your emulator supports that. The whdload version will have everything in one .lha file.

Am using RetroArch on a RG476H, does that support it?

I'm pretty sure Retorarch does. It works with Retroarch on a Steam Deck and I don't think I did anything special with the default Amiga core used. There is also a method with Retroacrch where you can have individual profiles per game. So for say a 2 disc game you could set up Retroarch to be configured with two simulated drives and load each with a disc, I believe the config allows you to do that as part of the per game setup so it remembers the disc in each drive so you don't have to manually load each one. Then you could have a separate setup for a 4 disc game etc. Then Retroarch can be told to use the relevant setup on a per game basis so it will use that setup when launching that game. I did some googling to find this out and the method looks sound, but whdload is just easier.

Edit: It may be you have to select the PUAE core in retroarch, or download that core first if it not there by default. Then turn on whdload support in the core setting.

This is a pretty trusted YouTuber when it comes to retro handhelds.

Looks like 3ds runs very well.

This handheld is grabbing me more than any others in recent years. I'd love to play DS/3DS and the screen is big enough to enjoy dipping in to some Gamecube/PS2. The overall quality of the product seems quite high too. I'm tempted!

I have the Odin 2 Pro, have had since launch. generally AYN products are great, well supported by the company and the connumity, and the 8 GEN 2 chipset (same chipset in the Odin 2 and the Thor) will play anything you throw at it as long as the emulator supports it, even a lot of windows games

Forgot how many of the Amiga games have a mix of keyboard and joystick controls. Makes it a little tricky, the on screen keyboard isn't much use for actual gameplay.

If it's only a few you could always try creating a custom mapping for them (most emus allow to create an "action button plus up" = Custom Keyboard stroke).

If there are loads that may be unusable though
