Time to wrap this up then, the final position to vote on before I put all the selections into an XI. Hopefully this will be far closer between far more different players than the other positions.....

Nominations are;

RVP
D.Bent
Jelavic
Suarez
Aguero
Tevez
Rooney
P.Cisse
Adebayor
Other

Some of the selections may be a little knee jerk but after some storming starts to their PL careers last season I think they're worthy of inclusion. Had Drogba not officially become an ex PL player I'd have included him.

For the final time if a mod can do the honours :)

Depends on the time frame really.

If last season... RvP with Aguero close behind (perhaps tied...).

If the past few years... Rooney.

I think Drogba should be included, it's silly for him not to be.

It's not as if he's played a game away from the league or anything yet, he's only just left and was still here last season. So I think he should definitely be in it...

(Not saying I'd vote for him, but he should certainly be included if people like Cisse and Jelavic are...)

100% Rooney. Easily the best, proved it over a number of years. I really like aguero, and I think a few years ago torres\drogba/tevez have been great but no one has consistently offered the world class all around game of Rooney.

I don't mention RVP because although I really like him, I don't think he is in the league of these players and has a fairly limited game which is helped by the fact that everything goes through him so he is bound to score eventually.

He doesn't have a limited game at all, he's been asked to play a limited way as that is what Arsenal needed. If Arsenal had a proper goalscorer, I think he would be sat back a bit more, playing a similar role to what Bergkamp used to.

On that note, I'd struggle with my vote between RvP and Rooney. Can't we have 2 votes? I want the 2 to play together! :p

Edit: I think Drogba should be included also, and he's someone else I'd struggle not to vote for.

If you were to take just last season it would be RVP for me, but last season has pretty much been his only season without looking like he was made from fibreglass. So for consistency it has to be Rooney.

I think a timeframe really should have been defined for all of these because I think the results for quite a few of them may have been different.

It should have been made clear if it was last season alone, or if it was consistently across say 3-5 years or so.

Of course, last season would have been fresh in peoples minds so you'd always get that etc but I think a few may have been voted differently.

Also the formations a bit of a mess :p

Forwards float in and out of goal scoring form throughout the season. I think RvP has been the exception to the rule this season. He early has had an incredible season.

But he isn't in the Premier League anymore, and therefore doesn't qualify as the best striker in the Premier League :p.

Why does the question of timeframe keep coming up? It's simple, in each vote you're picking the player for who they are now, at the time of voting. What is hard about that?

If someone has been great over a number of years but is no longer at the same level, then why would you put him in your team based on the player he was rather than the player he now is? Good example of this is Evra, he was up with the best LB's in the league for a time, now he's nowhere near and so didn't get a look in, rightfully so. Use whatever timeframe you feel necessary to judge who is the best in each position as of today, it doesn't really matter as long as the end result is who you think is the best right now. It's irrelevant if Scholes was great in 2000, if you picked him you're picking the 37 year old Paul Scholes we have today.

I do agree about the formation though, could have made a difference to some of the votes.

Strikers is a tricky one, because we have 3 very realistic candidates (Rooney/RVP/Aguero). Nobody stands clear above the rest, so I think we'll get Utd fans voting for Rooney, Arsenal fans voting for RVP, and the City fan voting for Aguero :p. Only in this case I don't think it's what you would call typical club voting, I just don't think there's enough extra coming from the other teams players for people to go against their own guy. So Rooney for me then obviously since I can only vote for one, but there's nothing to choose between at least 3 of the players listed.

He shouldn't be in there as he's gone now, the poll is about who the best striker in the PL is not who the best striker in the league used to be (Shearer/Henry).

But he isn't in the Premier League anymore, and therefore doesn't qualify as the best striker in the Premier League :p.

And if this thread was made three days ago, he would have been.

It's a bit silly and doesn't really make sense.

It's based off of previous season(s) form, he played last season, therefore it counts, surely?

If RVP had transferred 3 days ago and wasn't included in this poll people would be going crazy and it would be silly. A game hasn't been played of the new season so it makes sense to include players that were in it last season.

Because that isn't what's being said;

As always not just based on last season :)

So it's not based on just last season, nor right now, it's based off of however long each individual poster decides pretty much.

It's not an 'all time' list, it's a 'recent years' list it seems but then the exclusion of players such as Drogba doesn't make sense.

If it was last year alone, it would be between Rooney, RvP and maybe Aguero.
If it was the past few years, RvP nor Aguero wouldn't be included in most peoples minds, but players such as Drobga would.

So each different person is voting based off of 'not just based on last season', but that could be based off of the last two seasons for them but the past four for the next guy. It's just a muddle.

It has. In almost every single thread.

As above, 'not just based off of last season' isn't really a clear period of time to make a fair vote over.

I really don't care that much, but seemingly can't have any sort of discussion without it turning into people taking it as some sort of personal offence on here so I shan't bother.

Demba ba should be on ther for last season...

Don't see why Tevez is in and not Dzeko too

Good point this, I'd certainly include Ba.

Tevez should be in there for the 'not last season alone' but shouldn't if it's as most people are voting, which is 'last season alone'.
