BEST UK PRICE - PHANTEK COOLERS

Those fan do look like my teeth straight after a dentist appointment!

Not sure i like them!

RE your temps, can you turn the voltage down a bit?

Doesnt look anywhere near as nice as my stock cooler, but its far too much better :p

^^ They will fit in any case which has a standard 120 mm exhaust, mine fits perfectly in my Antec P182 which also has chunky sound shielding on the side panels. also it obviosly needs low profile / standard height dimms. Any ram modules that are slightly taller than a bare dimm wont fit under it.

And it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than my previous H2O 620 loaded full with loads of silent Xigmatek fans (2 fans on the rad, one above the CPU block with a fan bracket, still a lot worse than the phantecs).

The H2O 920 + Corsair H100 only match the Phanteks / D14 / Silverarrow with very loud fans on the Rads. The big CPU heatsinks do the same thing, just maybe a degree or two hotter in complete silence.

Just incase nobody sees it :D

You know what's funny, people spend £100 on the H100 and another £40 on top just to change the fans and then start comparing that to a £50 air cooler. The irony is that the £50 air cooler performs the same if not better and more quietly than that £140 ALC setup...

indeed, the only time the air cooler will be worse is if the case has **** airflow

LOL! no wonder, i never got any search results back! :p

If I could, i'd sig that!

EPIC!

I'm bookmarking this thread now! Will save me time later trying to explain to n00bs about why the self enclosed liquid coolers are crap!

:D
Antec kuhler 920 very Quiet.
Yes its cost me £90 after swapping the fans to the vipers

but i think its far from crap!!:p
and i have nothing against big, heavy, ugly, cumbersome, dirty, smelly, windmill, obstructive, air coolers
only yoking all down to personal choice i think and obviously my choice is best:)
Oh i was thinking of starting a ALC appreciation Thread He Hee

Yes, but the phantek is cheaper for the same performance :p

For that price, i'd have got the OcUK V6 watercooling kit. It's ~£30 more and can be expanded later

I can't deny, phanteks and d14 and silver arrow aren't cheaper, with mostly better performance.

I'm not quite sure they're as aesthetically pleasing though, nor as less stressful on motherboard as the h100 and such like.

It's really about what you like.

That's the common misconception though, people always assume those big air coolers to be stressful on motherboards but the reality is that their mounting kits are designed so much more robustly and they manage to cope with the air cooler's weight without the motherboard flexing.

On the other hand, the 'non-intrusive' Antec 620 and 920 actually caused my motherboard to flex because of their crappy mounting brackets. They were more damaging in that sense, and one of the symptoms of flexed motherboards are higher than normal NB temperatures.

I can see the appeal of ALC units and in the right situation, I would recommend them but a lot of people simply opt for them because of the above misconception. That's what grates on me. Unfortunately, many reviews don't pick up on that because they only show the temperature results without going into the ease of installation etc... all factors that should be considered when buying a cooler.
