BEST UNREAL???

I've played through Deus Ex recently (which uses the Unreal engine), and also the first single player Unreal title. Next time you do, have a look at the textures closely. They still look impressive imo when you consider how old the games are. It reminds me of a grainy effect when looking at other titles which seem somewhat similar, like Painkiller. When I play titles using the U3 engine, there are times when I do think 'Yuk!'. Quite a lack of definition.

UT2004, my favourite game to this day, I like the custom ons map servers the best.

I play UT3 warfare semi regularly on the multiplay warfare server, I dont have many gripes with the game but the handling model for the ground vehicles is pretty second rate.

Unreal Tournament is still one of my all time favourite games.
Unreal 2 I feel for rather over looked by the majority of people or slagged off, but I really enjoyed it and it had a great feel to it.

Unreal 2 XMP still probably had a better feel to it than UT2003 or UT2004 had tbh.

ut99 was my initiation into FPS and multiplayer too really. Great game. UT2004 I spent a lot of time on too.

UT, specifically Instagib CTF. Used to play in one of the top clans in the country (and Europe for a brief period!)

All the other ones are dog**** in comparison.

Keep meaning to ask where your sig is from, looks great. :) I'm not sure if the man on the left is the same as the one on the right; they do seem familiar, can't recall where I've seen them from.

Ahh...'The Day Today' maybe?

Unreal Tournament for me, Ice station zeto and the soundtrack = shivers down my spine.

EPIC.

The original UT by a country mile for me... At the time of realease it was a revelation, in terms of graphics/gameplay and especially online gaming, especially when the "zeroping" instagib mod was released (helping HPBs massively). Back in my "youthful" 20s, I spent a scarily high proportion of my free time playing this, often using mates' logins at my old uni to get online with a decent ping (before the days of increased security measures and more checks of what "students" were doing).

The only thing that the more recent revisions have over the original are the graphics updates and more importantly much more z-axis useage in the map layouts of the default maps (Codex and Lliandri were the only significant exceptions).

I was only thinking the other day, I've just past the 12 month mark since I last started UT3 on Steam...
