I think the reason COD wins sales ratings is because theres a lot of gamers out there who for one reason or another don't want to sit on teamspeak with people taking themselves too seriously to play a game.

That's a huge market of casual gamers I suspect Battlefield 3 misses.

most of the people on my BF3 friends list are on Metro 24/7 servers now... "to unlock new stuff"

sad days. Im playing MW3 till they get bored of that lol

Maybe Run and gun is just a lot more fun to them than teamwork based FPSs?

I like the gameplay of BF3 more but I really like how smoothly the COD games all run, feels good to play whereas in BF3 I am constantly thinking about my struggling PC.

I don't have the time to get into battlefield 3, If I was still a student or unemployed I'm sure I would love it but as it is I can't enjoy it, Me and my friends all work full time and have real life commitments, there aren't many times when we can all be online together to get a game going, and trying to play with a random squad is hell, most people play the game as if it is cod and it is just frustrating that way

But MW3 I can jump on and have a quick game whenever I like, no messing just click join and can have a good time, And when my friends that I already have on steam come online I get a nice little notification and 1 click can invite them directly into my game,

You say that sarcastically, but there is teamwork.

People playing as squads putting down spawn beacons to move their squad closer to the action, medics throwing down med packs and reviving people.

Support class laying down suppressing fire and giving out ammo.

And oh yeah, engineers spamming RPGS all day long

Its not point and click at all, it just has its own set of challenges different to those in BF3.

After playing MW3 SP and MP last night and all of today i think that MW3's SP is far far better than BF3. But BF3's MP is better for me, especially after that travesty they call IW.net for ranked games. I have had more disconnects or laggy games than i have had good games. The Dedicated servers are good, just pick a class and go. Plus there's the chance of some mods if the community supports it.
The two multiplayer games are totally different, MW3 is faster and more of a reflex shooter. BF3 when played with friends becomes so much more tactical. A friend said to me yesterday that he thinks of it as the current day Q3.

I really liked the original CoD and especially CoD:UO for mp. After that the mp just got too deathmatch orientated for my tastes so rarely played it. For single player I thought it was great up to CoD4, since then I have been less than impressed. MW2 storyline was absurd, and I didn't bother finishing BlackOps. This is the first CoD game I haven't bought at release, I'll probably pickt it up cheap if I can for the sp somewhere along the line.

Battlefield 3 I enjoy for the mp teamwork, it sucks when there isn't any teamwork though!

no, only in single player.

COD has its own challenges, its a very fast gameplay and requires good knowledge of the map to know where people are going to come and go from.

Anyway....

Brief gaming history to prove not a fanboy of either: TFC, L4D, Crysis 1&2, MW1&2(SP only MP didnt excite me) COD:BO (didnt finish SP) and BF3

I have to say - BF3 is by far the superior game. Yes they are different so comparison is debatable but you could use that argument with lots of things.

The gfx are much better, the sounds are better, it's more realistic than COD and although I expected it, I was still surprised at how much of a blatent ripoff MW3 was. £40? Are you kidding me? It's like Karate Kid new and original - they are exactly the same - it had me PMSL. Fair enough they didn't update the engine but they could have made more of an effort with other things seeing as they didn't have to change the engine. Using the same building? £40? Paaaaaaleeeeeeeeeeease

Probably the best FPS of all time imo (Half-Life) cost about half that and spawned the most popular online FREE games ever - CS, TFC back in ze day.

£40 is a joke but meh, we all saw this coming with the rise of console players etc. Doesn't make it less dissappointing.

To those deciding which to buy out of the two - has to be BF3 much better experience.

So glad I didn't pay for MW3....

I based my preference on which game is better than its prodocessor and diserves release day prices, the difference and progression between BF2 and BF3 is huge IMO.

The progression and difference between MW2 and MW3...not much at all IMO. Just a new flashy story/singleplayer campaign with the same old mechanics and graphics.

You could argue, if something works, why change it. But how long can you go on saying that?

BF3 wins hands down.

The moto in the board room at the office I bet. Thing is for me, the game can be decent they just forget to remove so many rookie errors,for example being able to access certain parts of the mp config to edit how much xp you get per kill. I mean WTF?! why bother having a leaderboard system if it is made pretty much redundant by a mistake like that..
