BFG RMA question

Could i still claim an rma on a bfg 640mb gts that my bro is using now. When i bought the card i registered it after installing it, subsequently moved on to a g92 gts and my bro got the 640. He's now informed me that it's starting to artifact in games and im thinking it may be on its last legs.

There is no harm in asking.

Update on RMA From BFG

Maxcore 260 OC2 sent back on Monday as faulty.
Received a replacement Maxcore 260 OCX on Thursday!

Really can't fault service like that.

Thank you BFG

Only problem being I bought an EVGA 285 F.T.W on Wednesday!

Matt

Bought a BFG Maxcore 260 OCX from OCUK just last week, its dead on arrival. Put it in the computer and on start up the fan made horrible crunching noises metal on metal and now doesn't spin. So I took it out and immediately called BFG support. I've got an RMA code and its on its way to Wales.

Can anyone tell me do you get a new card as a replacement, as I haven't even used this card it arrived faulty?? Hate to think I paid all that money and now I just get someone else's patched up card!

They told me send just the card - nothing else. You need to be able to track it, so I used DHL just in case but I reckon special delivery would suffice.

I bought a brand new GTX280, it was artifacting so I RMA'd it, then got sent a card that overheated, sent that back and got another card that overheated this time with a poorly fitted case.
Personally I think they just send back out cards that others send in!
Thats 3 duff cards with an ever increasing cost due to posting them back.
Good luck is all I can say!!!

Hey, I sent my card off for RMA and according to postage tracking its been recieved by BFG. Just want to check on BFG's site as well though, but my RMA number is 9 digits long and the tracking on theyre page only takes 7 digits. Is this the same for everyone or am I missing somthing here?

I stumbled on this thread when searching for advice on the BFG RMA process and just thought i should add in my own current experience.

I have 2 BFG 8800 GTX OC2 cards, which i purchased about a year ago (one from OcUK and one from a different supplier) and they were running pretty good in SLI on my previous system, but because of the other parts i had there was a bit of a bottleneck and i think the cards were really struggling to reach their full potential because of that. After i upgraded to my new system i put both cards in and decided to give Crysis a whirl on max settings. The game looked absolutely stunning but after about 10-15 mins my computer would lockup, my screen would go black and i then got a blue screen error pointing to the nvidia drivers followed by a reboot where the screen continued to have no signal. I would then have to turn shut it down and wait a bit before booting again so the screen would get a signal. I got the same thing when i tried playing Empire: Total War on max settings, but it was about 40 mins into the game.

I tried pretty much everything to fix it (reinstalling drivers correctly using driver cleaner, doing a memory test, checking to make sure the PSU and cards were plugged in securely etc etc) but nothing worked, and when i came to checking the temps i was shocked to find that the primary card was hitting 100-103°C while playing Crysis, and was sitting at about 75°C when idle. I had almost identical results when i swapped both cards around aswell, and when i ran each one individually although they weren't getting as high as 100°C they were still hitting 90°C and idling around 72°C, which does seem a fair bit hotter than they should be.

I sent an RMA support ticket though BFG's website, but after waiting for over the 24 hours they say it takes for them to get back to a ticket i decided to just go ahead and give them a call as i wanted to get it sorted asap. Waited on hold for about 10 mins (not as long as some telephone support these days i guess) and was put through to a very friendly girl who i explained my issue to. Once i told her about the temps i'd been getting she confirmed that they were most likely overheating and set me up with an RMA for both cards straight away and i received emails for both with RMA numbers about 5 mins after i put the phone down. I did still have the original boxes for both cards but as i was instructed to just send the cards themselves and nothing else (except the RMA confirmation printout) i figured a bit of bubble wrap and a large jiffy bag should suffice. Once i'd packaged them up securely i went ahead and sent them out the following day with Royal Mail Next Day special delivery.

I haven't had any problems with the RMA order status thing like some have described, I just used the link they provided in the RMA confirmation emails they sent through at the beginning. I checked the RMA's this morning and it says that BFG have received them both, so that puts me at step 2/3 of the process. Obviously i'd be very surprised if they get replacements sent out to me today, but of course i'd be very very happy and quite impressed if they did :)

So far i've found the process to be pretty easy (first time i've ever done any kind of RMA really) and it definitely wasn't as hard as i thought it might be. The only negative things i have to say is the fact that it is now 3 days after i sent my original RMA request ticket though on their site and i still haven't had anything back, not even a confirmation. Of course it's irrelevant for me now as i've already got the RMA in full swing, but i would say that their advertised assurance of getting back to you in 24 hours via email is definitely not true, although I would definitely recommend giving them a call if you're not bothered about the long distance call to the U.S. As it turned out i spoke to three different reps there (i had to change the shipping address i originally provided) and they were all very polite, helpful and seemed to know what they were talking about - which we all know can be quite rare for most companies these days. Also, it seems Jeff has been doing a lot to help out over here which is very encouraging to see. On that note i'd like to say that if you have any way of giving me a more in depth update on my RMA's Jeff i'd be very grateful for your help.

Hopefully i get new gen cards for my replacements, but i'd obviously still be content with having the same model cards back because i know that these cards are beasts just from the 10-15 mins i had playing Crysis each time before i got a lockup. As long as they aren't overheating like the last ones though!

I'm going to pick up my RMAd graphics card from the depot today (they tried to deliver it yesterday). I've been very impressed with the whole process, it took a week from me posting the card to one being returned, and they were very quick with comms. As long as I don't get home and find they've sent me an inferior graphics card to my original, I'll be very happy with BFG. The only bad thing was that it seems to take them a while to update the status of your RMA on their website, but that doesn't actually mean it happens any slower.

Were you RMA'ing an 8800 GTX OC2 aswell or was it a different card? Keep us posted on what you get as a replacement.

That's interesting about the status not updating because when i checked the status of mine using the link in the RMA confirmation emails mine had updated pretty much straight away. I guess i just depends if the guy scanning the packages is just working slow on certain days!

Are you using the link they gave in the emails or are you checking your status directly through somewhere on the BFG site?
edit: nvm. just seen that the form on their website is exactly the same as the one you get linked to in the RMA confirmation email

Well they received my card on the Friday but it didn't show on the webby until the Tuesday, and they posted it on the Wednesday but it didn't show until the Thursday. Hey ho, doesn't really matter that much. I've just opened the box to find a shiny new GTX 260, so I'm very happy :)

Nice one!

Was that from an 8800 GTX OC2 RMA or was it a different card that broke?

BGF RMA

Hi folks,

Here's my BFG RMA experience - all good so far...

One of my BFG 8800GTX OC2s packed up and went to GPU Heaven on Tuesday last week. I emailed BFG that Tuesday evening and had a reply by the following morning asking if I'd like to set up an RMA (note: the email actually arrived just before midnight the same day according to Gmail - thanks Delma!). So I replied and an RMA was swiftly set-up the next day.

I posted the card via Special Delivery Registered (insured upto £500) to the Wales address on Friday and it arrived today (according to postoffice.co.uk). According to the BFG website my card hasn't been registered into the warehouse yet.

Here's the thing, I did everything that the RMA said to do, but I didn't have any other box to put it in except the box my XFX 780i motherboard came in a few months ago. I don't mean the brown box but the actual colourful packaging box. I am hoping I haven't confused anyone at BFG! There is actually a BFG 8800 GTX OC2 in the box, along with the RMA paper as instructed, but I'm just worried now that my haste to send off the board - and make sure it was securely packaged - may have caused confusion if someone just thought the delivery is an error.

I hope my RMA is going though OK!

Rich

Don't worry if it doesn't show up as received with BFG for a few days after they sign for it. You could always email Jeff (I think was his name) whose address is somewhere in this thread just to let him know. Did you write 'Warranty return - defective' on the side as they said?

Edit - Jeff's addy is [email protected]

Looks like i've got 2 shiny new 1GB GTX 280 OC cards. Thank you BFG!

After only sending my two broken 8800 GTX OC2's to BFG on Thursday (they arrived at the BFG depot the following day) i've now already got my replacements! Including the weekend that's only a 6 day wait!

Both cards arrived today in separate Fed Ex boxes and after checking the RMA status online for both it shows them as only being shipped out this morning, so i'm sure they must pay a ton for those shipping costs.

All i can say is that i have had a great first RMA experience with BFG and i'm very happy with such a generous upgrade from my 8800 GTX's. Hopefully i don't have any problems with these cards for a while!

Nowhere on my RMA info did it ask me to write 'Warranty return - defective' on the box. I don't know how important this information is. Could be quite important I suppose. My RMA info on the packaging should tell them what to expect in the box though. It *did* say to package in a plain box - and this is the bit I couldn't do as no suitable plain box was available - so they got my not-very-plain-at-all (!) XFX motherboard box. I did follow all the other instructions I was given to a 'T' though; specifically getting it sent by insured mail and putting the RMA sheet print out inside the box along with the GPU.

Here's what it said on my email when I asked for the RMA:

"Use a trackable carrier like UPS or FedEX
Declare a value for the card with the courier for insurance.
Get a tracking number from them!
Package the card in a plain box.
You will not receive the original box back.
The original BFG retail box is not suited for shipping.
Make sure that the card is securely packaged. (If the warehouse receives the
card damaged in transit, it will be returned to you and you will be advised to
file a claim with your courier).
Send NOTHING with the card. Send just the card (no software, dongles, etc...).
Put the RMA number on a piece of paper in the box in case your courier puts a
label over yours.
Use the info we give you verbatim on the label."

I'm sure all is OK anyway, I'm just being paranoid because I didn't send it in a plain box. I did email [email protected] with a quick question asking if all was OK though. Thanks for the email addy. I read back over this thread and it seems Jeff is a real sound guy.

Here's hoping for a quick turn around and a GTX285 in return for my old card! I did spend £380 on it when it was new!

I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have SLI else I'd not be able to play any games right now while waiting for my RMA. If this RMA turns out as well as some of the others on this thread I'll defo be buying BFG when I do my next upgrade - it is just worth it for the warranty.
