BFG RMA question

Sent my 8800GT back to them last week. Still waiting and the RMA status link where you enter your phone number just comes back 'No result found'.

if you already sent your card back to bfg then u have no need for the form to enter your phone number as this only gives you links to printable pages for your parcel.

here are the links where you can try to enter your details. these are only the links to the sites, you best bet to find anything out is to phone them.

Enter your phone number into this link for the printable pages.

This link is for checking the status of your RMA, ie. if they have recieved it at the warehouse and if it has been dispatched.
Enter your RMA Number in the box.

Sometimes you have to type in the number omitting the first digit. Happened me with 2 rma's for some reason.

I got a question if some one could help me out please.

I don't have the receipt that came with my 7800 (got it from ocuk)

I did have it like month ago but it's gone missing am i stuffed ?

Thanks.

GothicGhost, can you not find and print the invoice from your "Order History" or from a dispatch email. I found the dispatch email from ocuk and forwarded that.

i just rang them and asked where my card was, told em i'd been in contact a week earlier and they said they wer not able to call back last week hmmm.

anyway i got a call 5mins later to tell me my card is on its way out the door today or tommorow, the website checker just updated aswell only it says they recieved it today when royal mail have a signature from 2 weeks ago lol

anyway ill look forward to unpackaging the replacement sometime next week.

01443816100 that is the phone number if you want to get some info on where your card is. make sure u ask for bfg or you will confuse the **** out of the secretary lol.

My RMA status moved on today too (not sent yet but they acknowledged receipt) so it appears the processing is ramping up again which is great news. I guess BT sorted their Internet connection earlier than they thought :D

Nearly five weeks later and I finally receive my SECOND replacement card. And guess what? It has the EXACT SAME ******* PROBLEM AS THE LAST ONE.

wat exactly is the problem your having, i tried reading back to see if i could figure it out but no luck.

if your having the same issue with a different card my presumption would be there is somethign wrong elsewhere.

reply with some info on whats happening and maybe someone could help you on here.

PS. What card did you get as a replacement for ur 8800?

Nah, it's a mechanical thing- incredibly loud and obtrusive clicking noises coming from the fan as it ramps up, though there's nothing stuck in there, just unlucky to have gotten two which do this...

Got the exact same card as a replacement on both occasions despite having been screwed around to a huge degree.

Mine just gave up the ghost, and remembered that it had a lifetime guarentee :)

Will let you know how I get on :)

Just about to send mine back to Wales now.

Do BFG refund the postage costs? I'm guessing not.

I paid for it myself the first time, when my replacement was faulty I made a bit of a fuss and they had it collected.

Good luck!!

Well i think its safe to say BFG are about as much use as a kick start wheelchair.

The wire i told them to send me (i even gave them a picture) has arrived after a 13 day adventure from across the pond only to be THE WRONG WIRE.

Going to ring Wales back again in a bit, the number is constantly busy and i'm not surprised.

*SIGH* god, I so hope that I have better luck, sending it today next day so I'm hoping to recieve it asap!

Registered here just so I could add my positive experience to the mix. My 3-year-old 8800 GTS (640) died on 3rd Feb. I filled in a web form on the BFG tech support site detailing my problem (sudden breakup, artefacts, freezing, crashing). Next day (time differences to US meant some delays between responses) I got an email asking me to check PSU voltages with a link to the (excellent) PC Wizard utility. I sent them my results that night. Next morning (5th Feb) I got a reply from Josh C asking to send info to set up an RMA, which I did. Later that day I got an email with a link to print off the RMA address in S Wales etc. I posted the card special delivery on the 6th Feb, it arrived there on the 8th (delay for weekend). On the 10th I received a GTX 275 OCX, which appeared to be in new or nearly condition. So that's 8 days from the start of the problem to it being fixed. The card has worked fine since, including running GTAIV pretty smoothly on my new build i5 system, which of course the 8800 could never have managed. Having read of bad experiences here, I am still pretty cautious about the card, but so far so good. I did have game and other crashing issues with the new system at first, but that turned out to be bad memory then running my Asus board in turbo mode. Soon as I switched to stable 'High Performance', everything has been fine.

On a side note, would I be wise to downclock this OCX card (having heard this card is a bit volatile) , and if so, how is that best achieved? Or would this void the warranty? (I registered the new card for warranty purposes).

I'm offering up this story just to show that is possible to get a good result (so far) from the BFG RMA procedure, so it seems very unfair that some people are not getting the same satisfaction.

I'd run furmark or some other stress test program before downclocking. As you might not need to do so.

MSI afterburner, EVGA Precision and RivaTuner will allow you to downclock the card if there is a need. And downlocking it with one of those programs or any software will not void your warranty. If you flashed the cards bios, then that might be a problem if something went wrong with it afterwards.

And it's good to hear that you received a good service from them, sadly I can't say my experience was so smooth.
