BFG RMA question

For me the issue is not so much with the initial service and turn around, that wasn't too bad to be fair. It's the fact that people are receiving cards that have probably just had the solder reflowed which isn't always a permanent fix and obviously doesn't have anywhere near a 100% success rate.

As mentioned I find the best way to stress test your card when you recieve it from them is with ozone 3d's furmark.

I spoke to someone in Wales today, a nice woman who was quite happy to slate the American side of BFG- basically, as we all know, they're a bit rubbish at times, but she did mention that they for some reason keep sending them loads of dodgy replacements. She apologised profusely but understandably there's little they can do during a premises move. Hopefully get something sorted tomorrow...

Or not, just spoke to her... They have been delayed and they cant do anything to help. Processing will begin towards the end of this week however shipping will not begin until the start of next week.

Saw that coming... I hope when it does eventually ship it is a working card.

Funny thing about the 295's i received they were all pretty much pristine condition, the single pcb 295 i have currently looks like it was taken from a retail box and shipped out. Stark contrast to some of the slightly battered cards some have received.

My RMA replacement looks pristine, even smells new :D but its not 100% OK as I found out recently - it seems fine for general gaming, 3D Marks, etc. but randomly fails furmarks or other intensive benchmarks.

Originaly i had an 8800gtx oc2 way back wen it was released, unfortunatly it had to be rma'd last year but was upgraded to what i have currently, an 8800 ultra. the turn around for that rma was same day dispatch. sent on thrusday recieved friday replacement sent out same same recieved on monday, excellent service.

so the replacement lasted over a year and same problem occurs, so i sent in my 8800 ultra thursday the recieved for it and signed for it on friday but i havent heard anything since.

im just wondering from reading some of the posts in this thread. is that telephone number still revelant since they seem to be moving and if not does someone have a correct one.

i know my card is a good few years old but it still keeps me happy enough, should i be expecting a replacement or a different card like previously.

Keep forgetting to test my card lol

I got a 7800 gs oc i still need to test it again on another pc as i don't have agp system anymore.

if its not working what sort of agp card would they replace it with if they got any left lol

Anyone received any BFG cards back during their changeover at the moment? Or heard from them at all?

I sent my 2nd faulty RMA back to them last Tuesday and have heard nothing since. Called several times and been told they will call me back, which they havent.

Last Tuesday i think they started to move, should have been done by this Tuesday but apparently it was delayed.
Don't expect them to call you back, keep ringing them, i was told i'd be contacted back in January still waiting on that one

My wire was shipped from the states on Tuesday so i'll probably get it early next week (i hope), all done via email, my phone calls to Wales didn't help.

Also tomorrow is the third month since my first card died...

Well after being speed bumped by US customer support for weeks I finally managed to get through to a chap at the UK warehouse. He couldn't have been more helpful and understanding, and confirmed that my card would not have been tested under load as I have been trying to suggest to tech support over and over and over again. He also said that there was a batch of faulty 280 / 285 cards around this time. They are now apparently testing their cards under load so with luck that should help out those who have sent their cards off for replacement recently. He copied me in on a message to Jeff trying to sort the issue so fingers crossed that 9 weeks on I might actually get a working replacement. Or am I being too hopeful?

Anyway, if you are in the same boat and receiving broken card after broken card it might be worth persevering and trying to speak to someone in the UK depot. They can't override the US RMA procedure however but seems like they can prod them along when it stalls.

It looks like my BFG 8800GT has died too. What's the best thing to do now? Fill in the RMA form or is there a quicker way to contact the UK office?

Jeff - you around?

What should I be expecting back since my card is under warranty? I assumed it would be a new card but it looks like a refurbished card from what people say here.

Erm, i'd just fill in the RMA info and just ring the UK office if things get slow.

Not seen Jeff in a while he hasn't responded to me email either but im used to BFG doing that now.

Expect at least a 8800GT back or better and a refurb also expect it not to work.

And im still waiting on this cable from the states, how many days is "standard mail"?

Aren't proper companies supposed to give a new card back instead of a refurbished one?

I'm preparing myself for a real ordeal doing this. It sounds like hell.

I have bought a £30 graphics card which I hope will work for the few months it takes to get my card back.

Agreed, although it would be nice if the refurbs actually worked. I was told today that due to a delay in the premises relocation they now won't start processing until the beginning of next week at the earliest. Not happy.

I spoke to the Wales warehouse yesterday. Apparently they are stacking up all RMA's and are unable to process anything until BT sort out their Internet connection! Bad planning if you ask me... I was told this could be the end of next week but they cannot confirm. So if you have sent your card in the last week then expect a long long wait to get the replacement! BFG America should have warned of the delay when booking the RMA in but they are not doing so, or didn't for me anyway. I called America and was told they have no contact details for Wales so cannot help, thank you for posting the number in these forums!

I'm really surprised that BFG are allowing this to continue. I appreciate that they basically have no product to sell in Europe anymore, and they may well never enter the UK market again, but to allow their premium brand to be destroyed in what is almost a death of a thousand cuts is quite incredible. The brand has enormous value in most people's eyes but they are just letting it be destroyed by waves of people complaining.

I honestly don't think it can be long before they attract the attention of a consumer rights organisation and that'll be the end of them.

Great, after having a chat with their tech support, they want to RMA my GTX 275
I don't have the money to get a spare or anything, so my pc is out of comission for a while
