BFG RMA question

Jeff got back to me to assure me the RMA is going through. As soon as I'd got the email from him I checked the BFG RMA page I could see it was received in the warehouse. I'm now waiting for the last tick box on the RMA page to show green and I'll know they've posted my RMA to me. I had hoped to get something for this weekend but I am now hoping it will be early next week.

I emailed Jeff back to see if he could tell me how long my RMA will take and he says it will go through asap. Just gotta wait now. I hate waiting. Especially when I am one GPU down!

RMA

Im in the same boat guys my 8800gtx finally died last weekend after over a year an a half of faithful service, got in touch with BFG website who sent me an RMA number and an address in wales to send to, did that last week on the 1st april via recorded delivery, checked my tracking number and it was delivered on the 2nd April, to date the RMA tracking page still shows it has not been received yet, anyone know who i should get in contact with to check my status, kinda down the now usin my sisters pc to post an keep in contact with folks the now lol

Can anyone suggest what this may be? Faulty card or something else?

I RMAd an 8800 GTX OC2 and just this afternoon got a GTX 260 back. Either the new card I got from my RMA with BFG is faulty or I'm missing something. Put the new card in and all I get is a long beep and my mobo halts a bit at error code 25 on the LCD screen (XFX 780i) before going through all the rest of the pre-Post check. It finishes that (seemingly OK) but I just get a black screen. I don't hear Vista's booting tune so it obvioulsy doesn't get that far. But I can't see a damn thing on the screen to give me a clue to what the problem is. If I put my 8800 OC2 back in the PC works fine!

I've tried taking everything out of the PC and just having the Vista 64 HDD and the 260 but to no avail. Black screen is all I get. I am gutted. I've had a bit of a wait to get my card, what with Easter and all. Now it looks like I might be waiting even longer if I have to do another RMA. =0(

The most obvious question is have you plugged in both the 8-pin and 6-pin power connectors? If the card screams it's head off it is indicating a lack of power. If your PSU was previously powering two 8800GTXs it should be fine capacity-wise, but it needs an 8-pin connector, two 6-pins won't work.

It could also be a driver issue. Will it boot in safe mode (hit F8 once it gets past the initial BIOS screen)?

I take it you have accepted that you won't have SLi anymore?

Hi WJA96,

Thanks for the reply.

My GTX 260 OC, sitting on the desk in front of me looking sorry for itself has two 6-pin power connectors, not one 8-pin and one 6-pin. This link will confirm that for you: http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_260_us.html (click on specs and scroll to the bottom). The 280s have an 8-pin and a 6-pin but not the 260s. Or at least the version I have here doesn't. I dunno, maybe the newer 216 cores version has the 8-pin, I dunno about that. Anyway, both of the 6-pin connectors are most certainly plugged in properly.

I have considered whether my CoolerMaster 850w Real Power Pro isn't kicking out enough amps to power the 260 but it handled two 8800 GTX OC2s just fine. I think my PSU has 70 amps altogether, though I think that is spread across 6 rails. I am researching right now whether enough amps can get down to the 260 through the two 6-pin connectors on my PSU but from what I read on other forums people are running 260s fine with 650/700w PSUs.

The card makes a long beep at a that certain point in the pre-boot Post cycle but it isn't particularly long - just longer that usual (the 8800s make a short beep at that point I think when everything is OK). Can you describe what you mean by 'scream'?

If I can get this sorted out with this 260 I'll be getting another one to SLI. My main concern right now is whether my PSU has enough amps to power the 260; all info I have right now is pointing to this being a dud card and the PSU being fine. I don't want to fork out for a 1000w beast PSU if this one I have is OK. I have almost enough spare kit to build a second *****ing rig as it is without a 850w perfectly fine PSU being spare too.

To answer your final point nope it won't boot into safe mode, it won't boot into BIOS nevermind safe mode. Lol. Or maybe it is booting into BIOS but as the screen is black I can't see to know! =0(

OK, so today I spent all afternoon trying different things to get the 260 BFG sent me to work and I am finally confident that it is a dead unit. I reset the CMOS, took everything else out of the PC - extra RAM, all the fans (except the CPU one of course) and took out all the HDDs. I also took the motherboard tray out of the case so I could check that the card was seated correctly. I got the same problem; long beep at error code 25. When I put everything back together with the ol' faithful (8800 GTX OC2) everything is hunky-dory. Dead dead dead GTX 260 me thinks. I've got another RMA set up and the card is going back to BFG.

The support people at BFG really are helpfull. This 260 came from the US and the RMA they initially set up for me had an address in the US to send it back to. I emailed and asked if they could re-do the RMA for me so I could sent it to the Wales address and within a few hours I had just what I'd asked for. I can't fault them at all. Now, whoever sends out dud GPUs over at BFG, I *could* say a few things about them. Here's hoping for a working card this time!

The RMA for my BFG 9800 GTX+ OC was accepted by OcUK on 11.03.09. 9 days later (20.03.09) they confirmed that it would be replaced.

One month later, I am still waiting to receive my replacement. How long does it usually take?

Get Jeff to chase it up for you. I bet his details are in this thread somewhere.

Edit: Here you go, email this guy: Jeff Kozlowski: [email protected].

He will at least be able to find out whats going on for you ;)

Had my replacement 8800gt 2 months ago i think, looks like this has now failed. Fired up Cod 4 and had a Direct x 10 INT error message, restarted pc and zilch, it powers up, graphics card fan stays on full blast and pc doesnt boot. Will be trying another graphics card tonight before I rma again. stress :/

Thought I'd follow up my post about the 260 not working. Turns out I'd been sent a dead card. I put that in for RMA and I've got another 260 back. This one works though. =0) Overall I'm pleased with BFG's RMA process. I am a bit gutted about being sent a dead board as a replacement (someone needs to look into this) but they've been good about everything else.

Hi everyone,

Last thursday my card starting to shut down by itself, like some other guy on this thread I believe. And I know it's not the PSU as mine's a Coolermaster M1000 (1000watt) PSU triple SLI certified, and Coolermaster have emailed me saying it's definitely not the PSU. I contacted BFG tech support on saturday as it still shut down when I ran 3D Mark 06, and I got a reply from them a bit later that evening who told me quote: "Your video card is dying, we need to setup a replacement order to get you a new card. Below are the instructions."
I emailed him all the details he requested including shipping address at midnight the same day. I emailed him again on saturday asking what was going on, and yesterday, well you pretty much get the gist of it. Last night I contacted this Jeff guy, as some of you have been doing, but still no response. Today, I rang their EXPENSIVE international number but no answer; 5 times I called them in total!!!

I am absolutely disgusted by the horrible way I have been treated by BFG. In my emails, all I asked for was the status of my RMA which I believe I am entitled to. When I ordered my Core i7 setup, I was emailed and texted with status updates every few hours, so BFG have absolutely no excuse.
For crying out loud, BFG say they have 24/7/365 day a year support. BS!!!! I am so angry with them that I suggest no one buys their products, but instead look at EVGA etc, as they have an email address you can directly get into contact with here in the UK. I am going to get into contact with the citizens advice bureau and seek legal advice too. Advertising that you have 24/7/365 day a year support and not delivering is not on!! I understand that at times, company's like BFG can be busy, but too busy to deal with their own customers? Too busy to answer international phone calls? Too busy to right a sentence or two reassuring the customer that everything's going ok? I can't even describe the anger as to how cheated out of 300 pounds I am!!!

Now, for the last time, JEFF HELP ME!!!!!

Well it has been the weekend, even BFG gave to have a break ;)

Let Jeff respond to your email, should be today I'd say. And guarenteed he will get things sorted.

Please read the FAQ above and edit your post accordingly before someone tells you off!

Calm down a sec, it's just a gfx card! Have you heard back from BFG yet? I think you're overreacting a little bit here, they've been late to reply but only a few days - legal action?!! I hope jeff can sort it out for you, he's been very good so far, sounds like an oversight on BFG's part. Get them to check the phone number you used was OK for over the weekend and see if you can get them to explain what went wrong.

Good luck matey

LOL... Oh yeah people do deserve breaks, but when one advertises to be open literally the entire year, one should should back up their claims. The police have to work all the time, they change shifts, perhaps BFG haven't heard about this concept.

Ok I overlooked the FAQ. I'll check it out, and thanks for giving me the heads up :)

I disagree with you that 'it is just a graphics card', and that I'm overreacting. Here's why:
1) I paid 300 pounds for this card, so, for me, it is literally the same as throwing that money in the bin if I can't enjoy the product I have bought. It was a very expensive product so I am entitled as a consumer to get top notch services as advertised.
2) This is about 6-7 days work for me in total which is a lot, and I need a good, reliable graphics card for video editing for my uni course. And I won't lie to you, I do enjoy the occasional game of Crysis ;)
3) My biggest problem with them is that they claim I can call them up or email them and get virtually immediate help. Even on Christmas day if I wish. This, to me is false advertising and a blatant lie.

I am serious about legal action as I strongly believe that when I work, pay my taxes, respect people and society as a whole, I am entitled to the same which I have not received from BFG. I'd feel ashamed if I were in BFG's position. Oh and this isn't a one time rant about BFG's after sales support, I can't stand Samsung either, but do like companies such as Pioneer and Bose. I try to be fair and understanding to all.

To answer your question, I have had one email back from BFG on saturday night asking for my details so yes I have heard back from them. Once!

I RMA'd my card on the 8th and emailed jeff on the 14th asking for an update at about 10pm, replied straight away and said it was on the list of ones to send out and he'd make sure it got shipped out ASAP. Got it yesterday morning at about 10am. Considering the weekend when postage companies probably werent working, I think thats pretty good.

Have you set up the RMA using their website? Normally get details about sending the card within an hour or so. But think your getting a bit carried away about the legal action!!

I've just had a look at the forum rules and I can't see what I have done wrong.
The only thing I guess that could be considered as rule breaking is my mention of specialtech (an OCUK competitor) and flamming them, but to be quite frank, a lot of people on this thread have flammed BFG so it's no different.

If you could please tell me how I have done anything wrong, I'll gladly edit me post.

Yeah something seems amiss here. Looks like yours may have been overlooked for some reason.

If your GFX card is so important to you, would it not have been prudent to have a backup in case of failure? I mean, most companies will take at least 2 weeks to turn around an item.

EDIT: Sorry, i'll clarify, you're not allowed to mention competitors on this forum, even if it's bad! Sometimes they are a bit stiff, but they're the rules I guess.
