Police rang me this morning, a PCSO went to check CCTV footage, they saw someone ride off but footage was too poor to identify ****** scumbag, so case is being closed after less than 24 hours, even asked me if I had a hint or heard anything, wtf, gym is literally 5 min walk from a well known estate of high crime.

Wasn't insured on house insurance, never took out insurance on it, never have tbh it was a 5/6 year old mtb, probably not worth anything but to me it was, smack head would have got about £20 to his next fix, cant afford another right now.

Feel lost now, not being able to go for a ride or just nip to the shops, will miss it big time, first time I have not had a bike since I learnt to ride when I was 5, **** this gay earth, put in 1500 miles this year on it and now its gone :(

Probably put in 5000 miles on it, did Manchester to Blackpool on it and Manchester 100 , £15 cycle computer was on it and £15 bike lock is in bits and £50 seat. My own stupid fault for not taking out insurance but hindsight, after a few years you think its never going to be stolen!

DW Gym, been going 6 months, religious on my bike, had no problems but now its gone, locked it up all over town for years but now its worth something :eek:

tbh it doesnt matter where you leave it in public view, if they want it, they will get it, when I told them it had been stolen they said "not another one" so its a prime spot but nice of them to tell people or put up a notice, what do you?

Drive down, car is a lot harder to steal that a metal lock, walk down they cant exactly steal you or ask to store the bike in the gym in case it gets stolen, cancelling my membership now, **** them and **** the gym, £28 a month towards my new bike :D

Best get use to running as me new fitness routine :rolleyes:.........:p
 
Feel for you mate, i dont get why companys install such crap CCTV if it cant be used most of the time.
I wouldnt leave my bike outside anywhere, couple of my local shops let me take it in with me.

edit: Thanks Ichabod. What about rebound? Am I right in thinking I have the slower rebound on the rear shock and faster rebound on the front? All this is confusing to a noobie biker! :(

Rebound settings are a personal preference and you wont get them spot on till you get out on the bike and ride it; getting a feel for it, set it to the middle then go hit some trails and adjust as you go :)

Head to Endcliffe park then out to forge dam and then the peak district with some nice riding is only a few miles away from the City :D
 
Can anyone recommend me a bike? looking for something at £250 max.

I'm going to be using it for getting to and from work mostly but also for a bit of exercise when I have time as well.

It needs to be able to handle hills well as there are a lot where I'am right now, lots of country roads :p

I could probably go up to £350 now that I've looked around a bit and your right there isn't a lot to choose from at around £250.

The bike you linked I think would be too small, I'm 6ft and my inside leg is about 34".
 
Got the hardtail built up last week but Saturday was the first chance I had to ride it. Just took it out on a quick local loop and it felt pretty good, everything worked as it should and the big road climb felt a bit easier. The more rough off road stuff felt good as well. I've just got back from doing the same loop on my fs and I'm now wondering why I bothered building the ht. The rough stuff was so much easier, faster and much more fun. I suppose it'll get used to save my fs from the winter mud round here though and it's still enjoyable, just not as much.

It's mainly built up from bit's off my old Enduro and including buying the frame, headset, cables, a new bottom bracket and a new stem it owes me about £100.
 
Had a good XC ride today. Went from Ballater to Glen Muick, then cut across to the base of Mount Keen, along Glen Tanar for a bit then cut over towards Cambus O'May and an easy 3.5miles back to Ballater.

Didn't get many pics but did get a pic of a man in tights for Supercow:
