Trust me, its not that bad when your riding, I think its comfortable! Although looking at that pic, I havn't ridden it since i took it out the back of my work van and put the XT derailier on. It might be higher than I normally have it.

But im sure not by much. Anyway what do you guys / gals think??

Looks very nice. 16.5 does sound small for a 6 footer though.

All these nice XC bikes make me want to go searching for a cheap one somewhere, my 224 just doesn't hack it for any sort of XC. How much do you reckon I could get a hardtail XC bike for second hand?

No hills where you ride then? :D

What crankset have you got and what the hub arrangement at the back, SS or spacers, sliding or vertical dropouts?

To get enough gearing for the road will kill you on offroad climbs.

Not many :)

Your bike sounds like this one from a quick Google: http://www.cyclesurgery.com/ProductDetails/mcs/productID/1025614

Just look at picking up a 34 or 36T ring if you're feeling brave, presuming the current front ring is a 104BCD you shouldn't have problems choosing a replacement. But you will have to increase your chain length, which will probably mean a new chain. Additionally your bash guard probably won't be big enough to cover the new ring.
