Oh hi bud!

Talk about a lurker here eh - you been registered ages, don;t say much :D

Today was a bit crap. The new bike felt great, but I ballsed up the jump line next to Evian. Thought the first gap was a bombhole and faceplanted hard :p

ps: Your kids is adorable on the Production Privee pushbike! Put some pics on here, or at least with the Shan / pushbike next to one another.

Serious kit :)

Were you planning to put those pikes you have for sale on the Giant? They look decalled up for the job!

Well, I faceplanted and broke my back brake lever right off the get go.

That said, certainly exactly what I was after - rocket ship, but I'll need to ride it more to try give better feedback , because of the "OMGNEWBIEK" feeling you get when riding a new steed :D

It's the lightest bike i've had thus far (even lighter than any of my hardtails) at 27.9ish LBS , with more weight to drop when the new cranks arrive.

I went to Rampworld in Cardiff last night with a private session, been years since I rode BMX and had a good laugh considering. Managed to clear the smaller line so happy with that. Also had fun boosting the foam pit, managed a 360 into foam and half a back flip but paying for it now.. Foam is a mare to climb out of!

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new bike for this season. I ride mainly trail centers, like bike park wales and cwmcarn with the occasional light/medium downhill use.

I don't do enough downhill to warrant a full on downhill rig if I'm honest but I'm looking for something with enough travel to cope with it when I do decide to go for it and the versatility to be a decent ride at a trail center.

What are my best options?

Always the chance of bumping into Manon carpenter there too :)
I still lightly shred by mexer now and then rampworld looks ace

Cough...Giant Reign, Commencal Meta, YT Capra, Transition Patrol, Kona Process, the list goes on.

What's your budget, so we can spend your money for you :)

That's going to be lighter than my Hardtail! Dat carbon man!

Ouch! I tried to have this conversation with my cousin the other week, he's not long started ridding and is worried about coming off incase he sratches/damages his bike. Thought it was weird, it is the last thing I think of when riding even on a brand new bike. But I couldn't convince him that it's a mountian bike and it's going to obtain damage at some point.

No budget as such, ideally wanting frame only though.
I've currently been looking at the 2015 nomad and a transition tr250.

Any thoughts on these?

Supercow - Is your Reign running SLX cranks with a single ring? If so, were they converted from a double or triple?

I've got an SLX double myself, been thinking about going 1x but have read about problems doing so from a double.

How so? I moved my twin ring slx to a single

It's easier to get the chainline right if you use a triple, mounting the single ring where the middle one used to be. I'm sure it can be done OK from a double too of course! But that's the only reason a triple is recommended that I know of. So that's how I did it when starting from new. I can't really see why it would matter that much, but that level of bike stuff is like black magic to me anyway.

As above, I've heard about issues with the chainline not being ideal. Then something else about having to file off some tabs on te SLX double, getting longer bolts with spacers and such like.

Sounded a potential faff, which is why I've not attempted anything yet.
