No budget as such, ideally wanting frame only though.
I've currently been looking at the 2015 nomad and a transition tr250.

Any thoughts on these?

Nomad gets great reviews (Pinkbike's bike of the year award etc), though I'm not a fan personally - just isn't "me" (bit too posh).
See their review here: http://www.pinkbike.com/news/santa-cruz-nomad-review-2014.html

Worth noting that with the Nomad you;d usually want to "Size up" from your standard size.

The TR250 is not a bike you're going to pedal around at all, and not the same category as "agressive geo" AM bikes. It's a DH bike.

Itchyballs has no clue what he's talking about, he bases bikes on their colour and/or brand name purely.

Supercow - Is your Reign running SLX cranks with a single ring? If so, were they converted from a double or triple?

I've got an SLX double myself, been thinking about going 1x but have read about problems doing so from a double.

Yes, the SLX that came with it, had a double ring on it, not a triple, meaning that the tabs were not too far extended.

As above, I've heard about issues with the chainline not being ideal. Then something else about having to file off some tabs on te SLX double, getting longer bolts with spacers and such like.

Sounded a potential faff, which is why I've not attempted anything yet.

cant say ive had any bother, the line looks straight enough when in the middle of the cassette. certainly cant think why youd need to file anything..

like so:

I'll give it a go then at some point. Is that a 34t being used? Are those the standard ring bolts?

thats a 32T hope narrow/wide.

bolts are the ones off my double ring but with raceface spacers/shims as they were marginally too long. i wanted to keep these E13 bolts as theyre torx front and rear (rather than the chocolate shimano ones) and it was cheaper to get spacers than new bolts.

The thing you'd have to file would be the bolts I guess, if you can't be arsed getting single ring ones especially (they're cheap though, might as well)

Yeah! Back when they first announced the mini CG I commented something along the lines of getting a matching one, and they said to be sure and send them photos. Well over 200 likes now! I'm gonna have to see about getting some sponsorship deals ;)

Well, I'm not seeing any posts from a fellow forum-ite I suggested in this thread, so I guess I'll have to post on his behalf! :D

What do you guys reckon is worth looking at in the £1.5-2k full sus market, 650b wheels, all-rounder "fun" type MTB (rather than all-day epic bike)

In years gone by I'd have just plumped for suggesting something from the Specialized stable, but they've gone all wagon-wheely at the moment so there doesn't seem to be much suitable. :(

Special offers in sales also considered, it'll need to be a medium frame. Anything else you want to know, pop up a post. Cheers guys :)

The more more I see those Metas the more I want one over the Aeris...

I absolutely can't wait for my am v4 race special edition :).

I must say though payment was a serious pain. I couldn't make the entire payment by credit card because of my card daily spend limit, so chose to do a wire transfer, and paid 40 quid for the express service last wednesday. They denied they had received my payment during four phone calls from last thurday to today, even though I had practically inquisitioned my own bank to confirm the money had gone through to the correct account. After calling their branch in toulouse, and putting my broken french to the limit, they found my payment, which had been credited the day I sent it! I didn't get n apology from the sales guy, but then again I know the french well so no surprise there :)

I'm sure the bike will kick ass though so in perspective no big deal now that I know they got the pavement and thebike will be mine! :D

Next time, use Transferwise

The problem was that they were looking for my name in the payment register, but I had put the order through the company account, even though the payment ref was the order number it didn't get picked up. These things are teething problems though and I'm sure they will iron out the kinks, I really admire what commencal have done with their sales model, looking at bikes 30-40% more expensive but with the same parts puts a smile on my face every time ;)
