I'm not scared of wearing lycra, I'm scared of other people wearing lycra, I don't want to see your bulgy bits :D

In all seriousness though, lycra is most comfortable, I'll stick with wearing something else over the top though ;)

You dont see many buldges. Sticking with wearing something over the top? Is that because you are scared people are going to look at your crotch? Whats the point of wearing something over it?

Andelusion, cracking bike of the money!

Are you finding it heavy at all? What colour are your 'new' pedals btw?

Thanks, no not particularly heavy, although this is my first full suspension bike so aren't very experienced, it's very easy to lift and carry about if that helps, and as I mentioned; climbs very easily. The pedals will be back, the ones on at the moment are just some crappy ones that came with an Orange.

I've been trying especially hard to colour match everything I've been buying lol I have a dark brown helmet coming and my gloves are orange/rust coloured, hopefully things will be co-ordinated, I'm screwed if I ever change my frame :D Need to sort out a few pairs of decent trousers, the jeans I have are all really cheap and to be honest I doubt they could stand the abuse, I also don't want to look like an enthusiast either with Fox/Troy Lee/overly branded stuff :p

In order not to look like a dong, nor can anyone else see your dong.
I wear a Canterbury Compression baselayer, and some lycra tights underneath my DH Clothing - no chance on god's green earth I'll wear that without a shirt and shorts over it!

I know few a Specialized owners post here so in case you didnt see this

"The following 2009 Specialized bicycles are affected by the recall: Cross Trail Comp, Myka HT Comp, Myka HT Elite, Rockhopper, Rockhopper Comp and Rockhopper Comp 29. The model number of the HL handlebar is ALR-13 NTFOV – you can find this underneath the right hand grip."

But I dont look like an idiot in lycra and no one can see my "dong" as the pad stops that from happening.

Doesn't apply to UK Rockhopper Comps afaik, as the UK bike comes with butted bars.

quick question to the bike guru's, my pedals are making a sort of metal on metal sound, so i took them apart cleaned it all, applied some lithium based stuff in the bearing cups, popped the 13 bearings in each end, then applied more grease to the spindle and the closing cup and finally the locking nut....yet they still sound as though they are spinning on metal....any ideas? Ive got some copper grease too, should i use that instead?

I have the 2008 model

I'm very annoyed I missed that week that they were going dirt cheap :(

There's also Liverpool - Chester - Liverpool in July which lets you cycle through one of the Mersey tunnels. 55 mile and 90 mile routes.

Not sure.

I'l find out. Gives me an excuse to get a new bike.

Now the question is, get a '09 Rockhopper Expert / '09 Felt Q920 or compromise on a few things in my life and get an Enduro* :D

(*Thats if I can get an '08 Enduro Expert for under £1700. If not then it will have to be a '09 Stumpjumper Comp :()

Wont these Liverpool - Chester and Manchester - Liverpool rides be super busy though?

Apparently one year it was a nightmare and all sorts of stupid people going through reds, going on paths etc...

Well, I've just pressed the trigger on buying a new bike in an effort to get back in to MTB'ing.
It's an '09 Specialized Pitch Comp, so not as flash or expensive as some of the bikes in here but I'm sure I'll get a few pictures. :)

Has the bike arrived yet? Would love some pics and to hear your thoughts on it.

I have an urge to buy a Pitch, but I would have to ebay my Rockhoper which i love! :(

How many of us use Flickr for pics?

Just wondering if there'd be interest in a Flickr group for pics of bikes or any pics you've taken on rides..

I know I take loads and then never post them because they're not really worth posting in here, would be good to share everyones pics though..

I did the Manchester 100 but the driver got lost in Wythenshawe and didnt even bring a map, got to the park and everybody had gone was the last to set off but overtook a lot of people. It was a great ride plenty of country roads and well signposted with marshalls every mile or so.

First time doing the Manc/Black and doing it for a hospice that is paying for the mini bus etc.

I know it's a way off yet, but I'm looking to get a new bike around June/July time as my '05 Merlin Malt 2 is getting a bit tired and I fancy something with rear suspension. I really don't want to spend more than £1000 if I can help it, these are the two bikes I am looking at so far:

Specialized Pitch Comp - £977
Specialized FSRxc Comp - £977

I do more XC and stick to singletrack so the FSRxc is sticking it's nose ahead at the moment as the Pitch would be a bit heavier on the climbs and I don't think I'd need the extra 20mm for what I do, but I'm throwing the Pitch into the equation anyway ;) Also, just how much better would the FSRxc Expert be? It's £200 more, but if it's that much better I could sell body parts to make up the cost.

So I put it to you, OcUK. What full suspension XC bike that can handle singletrack + the odd 4X course should I get for £1000? :)

Cheers,

Craig

I have an FSRxc (Expert spec) and a Enduro SL (Same geometry as the Pitch). The Pitch will definitely give you more confidence to go faster on down sections. I always found the FSRxc great for general riding (e.g. Long Mynd) but Trail Centers like Coed Y Brenin, Llandelga etc are better rode on the Enduro SL.

If you're doing 4x courses then I would go for the Pitch, purely for the slacker geometry.

There is a thread over on Bike Radar which covers the same question : http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12618320

Aren't they getting rid of the Pitch though? The Pro seems to have dissapeared from shops already, so by June/July the comp may have followed..
