I mean this in a completely non homo way, but you look really good on that bike :D

As an aside, I've given up MTB, its too dangerous, I've taken up extreme Frisbee.

Admittedly, the consequences of a missed catch could be quite painful.

Can someone remind me how you go about saving a pair of pads that you've glazed? Does IPA get involved in the process somewhere or am I barking up the wrong proverbial tree there?

If the wear on the pads is alright just sand them with a pretty fine paper (say 400 grit) and you'll be good to go. You'll have to bed them in again once you've sanded them. IPA will clean any oil that's found its way onto the pads or rotors.

Do the higher end gear shifters not have markings on them to tell you which gear you are in?

When I got my newest bike with Deore shifters I was dissapointed that they didn't have any numbers on them, The XTR doesn't seem to have anything.

As in numbers?

SLX and XT have the indicator windows but I don't think they have numbers on. They can be removed to save weight.

I don't think XTR has the windows at all, again to save weight.

Not sure how IPA helps unless you've got a 6 pack you're drinking while you sand the old pads :D
