wel it wasnt insured for the full amount :( but ive got it sorted. the guy at the lbs built up a trance 1 with like proper pimp spec and then decided he didnt like xc and is sellin it 2 me at a loss. specs a secret 4 now though wait and see :P

its the blue last years frame. looks nicer in my opinion specially with the built its got on it. btw if i were you id buy rock shox forks as they are much better service wise than foxs. more than 1 shop has told me to get something like a reba instead as they are not as expensive to service and need doing less often

true but both shops have said get rock shox over fox for most types of riding as they have a lot better reliability as long as they are the recent ones made by sram

Yeh, I wasn't disagreeing with that, but I smashed a pair of Rebas a while ago doing dh on them :\. As for getting ones made by SRAM, I think you'd have to go back a few years to find ones not made by Sram, like 4 or so.

well my pilots wernt made by sram. and tbh rebas really arnt designed for dh they are lightweight xc forks which are very strong for their weight

Due to someone deciding to rob off with my bike from my local pub on friday night Im having to get a new one

So, it means I will have to break into the Conroe build fund to get a new bike.

Got around £500 tops to spend.

Did have a Claud Butler Alpina last time. It was my first 'proper' bike. Bought it for £350 about 20 months ago.

Kinda damaged the Alpina quite badly as I put it through its paces even though I dont DH or anything extreme.

Looking to get a more solid bike this time around. I rememer seeing a while ago in this thread that the Giant XTC SE is probs the best one for under £500. do you bike guru's agree?

Suggestions and comments welcome.

Thanks :)

the pilots are 3 years old i think

and tbh u must be pretty dumb thinkin a reba would stand up to that much abuse. what forks do u have now?

Man ! another bike got stolen

I'd get last year's rockhopper disc, you can get it for about £550, with Avid Juicy 5 brakes, or even the STC SX for around the same price.

where do you go for dh then?
Hornton Hill was where I went like last year, but I haven't heard a whisper from there for a long while. I go up to Aston Hill when I have the time. There's a place called porc near to where I live, I used to go that quite often, but it's been taken over by 14 years olds with bikes covered in mbuk stickers who can't ride for **** but have bikes that cost about 10X the price of mine :\.

klkl im interested 2 see this bike with pikes as it sounds an odd combination. how much travel u running?

the bike didnt cum with rebas did it?
