I went down to Cannock a few weeks ago and loved it, didn't get there till late though, so only managed one lap. Must get back down again some time.

I am getting a creek in my Kona Stinky, think its the rear end, when I put a lot of force into the peddling I get some odd clicking/creeking sounds, thinking it may be the rear spokes or my pedals. Not sure yet, gonna regrease the whole thing tomorrow, but my back spokes are loose as hell, any idea's?

Dont get any creeks when bouncing so it sint the frame, but a bit when pedaling, sorta having trouble narrowing it down.

Just re greased the bottom bracket and removed one of the spacers next to the chain device, no creak in the bottom bracket or the frame. I mean if I just bounce on the frame its silent, its more like a bearing noise with the rear end, really need to get my spokes fixed, maybe try and re grease the cassette to, I dunno, think I am just looking for problems, its a downhill bike so I guess I am gonna get some noise :P. Does it when there is more pedal resistance to, maybe pedals, bahh! XD

i had the same year kona stinky and it was indeed a noisy bike! i always blamed it on the spring but theres that many moving parts and joints on the frame/wheels/gears that it could have been absolutely anything to be fair :o

Haha yeah, lots of pivots, confident its something fixable though, the frame at the moment is silent and so smooth to ride, gotta be some play somewhere between the crank and the back wheel, probably be one of those things that will just wear itself out and fix itself over time. Damn I hate those sort of things XD. Anyone gets any idea;s though let me know :)

Today Ive mostly been racing with "Southern XC" I entered the Open Male and there were 55 of us that started a 3 lap (8km lap) and I came 38th. - I wasnt really competitive but really enjoyed my self! :)

And... I was on a 5" bouncer and had a few beers the night before, thought I did quite well but really needed a hardtail for the course. on my Spesh enduro:

My wife was NOT happy when I said I needed a Hardtail to complement my Enduro. Anyway cant wait for another 5 weeks then off to Chamonix so atleast I can get the Gondola's up the mountain. :D

Why did you remove a spacer from the bottom bracket? Can't see if it's a howitzer BB but if it is I think kona frames are 68mm shelled so having a spacer + chain device back plate on the driveside adn a spacer on the nondrive side would be correctly set up I'm sure.

Soulds to me like either the BB,freehub or even rear hub bearings. Frame bearings wouldn't give a resistance on pedalling,my bearings are shagged and make a creaking under sideways load and tapping sound over rough ground.

When you leave a spacer on between the Chain Device and the frame it causes the right side of the BB to take over to much from the left so you cant get the left crank arm on the through bolt enough. I just removed the spacer and now the Chain Device somewhat works as a spacer also, there is a spacer on the outside of the chain device but thats it, I got out some of creaking by canging the pedals to DMR sealed V12. The odd creak now and then but it feels better now.

Ah fair enough mate, must have been spaced wrongly before? Cheap pedals do make a lot of noise, such as worn out V8s,but I wouldn't imagine they would give much pedal resistance?
