My wife was NOT happy when I said I needed a Hardtail to complement my Enduro. Anyway cant wait for another 5 weeks then off to Chamonix so atleast I can get the Gondola's up the mountain. :D

Just buy it.

Theres someone on BikeRadar with an excellent signature, which makes the point that if you tell her and she says no, your stuffed. But if you just go out and buy it, she'll be mad but you'll already have the bike :D

That trip looks like it could kill me! Having only been to inners and glentress(was at glentress yesterday) I couldn't ride all the other so soon after if they are anything like them!

Wednesday/Thursday could be as hard or as easy as we make it. Mt Keen is a 40 mile off road epic with some serious climbing. A quick google found me this:

Similar to the route I did a couple of years ago.

...the other trails on Wednesday/Thursday are short but steep routes.

Just came back from our first roadtrip to the French Alps. We had a bloody fantastic time there. The chair lift network is simply outstanding and made the whole holiday pretty effortless. Also allowed us to cover many more miles than we expected.

I've uploaded a few Morzine / Les Gets vids to Vimeo if anyone is interested:

Bear in mind we are not by any stretches of the imagination downhillers/dirt jumpers, just XC/AM folk a little out of character :)

A question for the roadies: A workmate of mine wants to buy a road bike, for around £300 second hand. What should he look out for in this price range?

I recommended frames that are mass produced such as Giant and Specialized rather than Bianchi etc - was I wrong in my assumption/recomendation?

Ideally it's a good solid bike, relatively light with a decent spec. I dont know if it's the same with roadies, but second hand mountain bikes do not hold their value well - is this also the case with roadies?

thanks!

Ive got a quick question about my gears on my bike, they're a bit off like when im in 5th it will be in 6th and i can't get it into first it will just stay on 2nd, the bike is about 1 week old, and it is a claud butler stoneriver bike....thanks :)

If its fairly new take it back to the place you got it from and get them to adjust it.

Any idea when 2010 bikes are set to arrive? Wouldn't mind seeing the Cube HT 2010 colour scheme's.

This seems a cracking deal... http://www.cubecycles.co.uk/index.asp?pageid=80510

Thanks for the link, just ordered a 22" through the cycle scheme. Just need to wait for the voucher now!!!

You cant find them on any UK websites because its a EU model only, squarecycles said they only have them because a shop abroad cancelled on the distributor.

My winter bike, I built it myself, had to be stripped down as the original frame cracked so I had to have it replaced, new headset, I like the nice reddish color of it , and a nice picture I took 6 miles into my 175 mile ride :D

Had a little off today on a downhill section, took what I thought was a solid (but wider than normal) line and turns there was just a great big hole there! No recovering from it and two grazes and a bump on my head, ripped the peak off my helmet (Although its fine) and bent my saddle! Bike is fine suprisingly. All fun and games.

Wish I didn't post that link now :p

Thats two people who have bought one. Shame they didn't have my size :(

Guys, Im in need of a new rear mech hanger now. After replacing the rear mech, chain and cassette, the chain is still jumping slightly as the rear mech isn't quite straight. Ive tried to bend the mech hanger back the best I could after the little accident I had but its not good enough, a new one is needed.

Anyway, is there any main difference between them? They are more than what I though too, I was thinking along the lines of a fiver for one :p

Hey guys, quick question, im going to be stripping my bike down and giving everything a good clean and re-grease, but what sort of grease do i need, ive used some carlube LM2 multi-purpose grease, but after a while it makes a mess and id rather not use it, so what else can i use?
