Yes, and yes

quick tip : dont spray Muc off washer on your bike... tip some into a washing bucket and fill up with water and wash with a sponge, you tend to waste a lot just spraying it on

I use Fenwicks FS1 it's about 2 quid a bottle more but its much more concentrated than muc-off and is meant to be diluted 10 to 1.

Anything special I should do with the chanset, gears, derailer, etc etc etc? Any bike lube will do?

I use rock n roll chain lube. It's amazing, not sticky like most others. It cleans the chain out when you apply it then wipe it off. Great stuff.

The other parts you don't need to lube, just degrease them with some degreaser and a brush, and then rinse down.

ordered yesterday morning and arrived at about 2pm :) not bad for standard delivery.

a lot cheaper than most in here £350 but its a big upgrade from my £60 full suspension asda bike :p

This is not a for sale post!
However, After dropping this thing in to my local bike shop im a bit angry / anoyed! My backend is moving a lot and ive just got the lbs to change all bearing and bolts. Costing me £120.00 so a full service! Does this sound a lot?
My question is; How much would I be looking to sell this for? you can see the spec and has cost me about £1500 - £2000 - Only alteration is that i have SLX chainset and not LX
Might be looking for a TI hardtail instead and starting to enter races and 5" of bounce isnt ideal :o

considering the bearings and bolts cost at most a few quid each and that i would happily do it myself would say it sounds a lot.

but for someone who doesn't know or doesnt want/have time to do it themselves then it could be worth it

no idea on what the bike will be worth though

Given that most places take between 25-30 quid for a basic service and anything between 50-80 quid for a full on service it ain't that bad. It's around 100 quid for a full build up from parts so taking your bike to bits and pressing bearings in and out takes time AND the tools costs quite a lot. Add in the price of the bearing kit(quite expensive unless you hit ebay and buy generic).

I did read it as the bearing work + a service, was nothing else touched? Carl at bikelove takes 40 quid an hour labour so technically they could have charged 2 hours labour + an overpriced bearing kit.

Correct, Bearings and bolts. Not a service to the bike just the bearings / bolts.
He said around £110 - £120 depending on what needs to be done. He will probably phone me monday with an accurate price.
It needed to be done at the end of the day and i couldn't get the bolts out even with the correct tools. (hammer, spanner, Allen key and Elbow grease)

I think you would be struggling to get 1k for it as a complete bike, you would make more splitting it and selling but its more hassle and not a guarantee everything will sell.

Well if it needs to be done, it needs to be done. Having had a go yourself, I guess the LBS is the only option tbh to get the job done.

£120 for bearings and bolts plus labour does sound quite a lot to me. I would have thought, whilst the bike was in the LBS, they would throw in a full service and give it the once over all included in the price.

Very nice bike btw, worth £1k+ atleast. Right up my street, something im after ;)

quick question

how do i adjust the pad on a disc brake so it doesnt catch on the disc when the wheel spins? it is catching ever so slightly and makes a nasty squeak noise.

they are hydraulic i think

my friend has a cable disc break and u just twist a red knob to adjust it but i cant seem to see anything like that on mine.

i have no clue on bike stuff at all.

Loosen the caliper, pull the brake on and then tighten back up. if you still get rubbing you may have too much pressure and need to let out the smallest of oil or re-bleed them.

It depends on the manufacturer, if they are hope its easy to fix and they have a how to vid on there site you need to centre the caliper then centre the pads. For something like an avid or hayes best bet is to loosen the caliper apply the brake on the disc then tighten the caliper again and re-bed them in.

i should have also said the bike is brand new and never riden. i think it may be that the disc is not lined correctly because it only makes a squeak at a certain part of the wheel not constant.
