Downhill/Cross Country probably doesn't mean black DH routes- i.e. maybe full on DH gear isn't required

He said he wants to go at great speeds - ergo the Full Face helmet reply.
Also a full face is a good idea for red runs too if you plan on pinning it :p

What about a skate style helmet (**** pot) or a met parachute? Really doesnt sound like you need a full face helmet.

As burned said above - you need a p!ss pot in my opinion.

No matter how hard you hit a red route a full face helmet is a bit over kill and as said they are not really designed for long rides but people do use them for this. There was a bunch of lads at Dalby today using full face helmets to do the red and because of this they found it hard to hear people asking them to move across!

What about a Fox Flux? FLUX

Maybe our definition of a red run is a tad different.
The red runs I have been on, also only last about 2 or 3 minutes, just with less tech sections and a bit more open

Maybe we are thinking differently from the trail centres I have been to a red trail is a good couple of miles, The Dalby red is 23 miles and has off shoots of black along the way.

Yeah - A Trail Center 'Red' is just a slightly technical XC single track section.
A Down Hill Red will last a few minutes and contain drop offs, rock gardens, rooty bits, jumps, berms and steep downhill.

I have a Fox Flux which is perfect for Trail Centers as it gives protection to the rear of the head. Much the same as a Giro Xen or Specialized Tactic helmet.

Argh, I cant make my bloody mind up about the new frame. Now Im looking at the Cove Handjob is white :o

There something about the size of the Charge Blender thats putting me off. 15" and the shorter traveling fork.

I would seriously consider what the bike is going to be used for, you come across as you're being drawn by the name (and colour) rather than the function.

Well I do like White frames :D

The bike would be used for light to medium XC, no jumping, DH etc. Just general riding on some 'loose' stuff :p. It would be also used for commuting and general weekly rides to do a few miles. Hence why Im going down the HT route.

I guess, I will be spending more hours on BikeRadar!

Quite like the Flux helmet, gonna have a look around now and compare prices.

Ta :)

Yes, Ive been looking at the on-one frames.

Any idea if / when 2010 are generally released?

Im in no huge rush, I was planning on getting the full build done by the end of the year.

Pretty much any hardtail will be fine so you may as well get it in a nice colour:p Seriously though- just test a few HT's to see what feels best

All the new gear is normally available by in september, but frame manufacturers like cove, cotic, on-one, etc dont release stuff year on year like specialized, trek, etc.

If you want to know if there's going to be a new frame in sept, just email them and they'll let you know.

The red route at Fort Bill is probably the only 'XC' route to warrant the thought of wearing a full face helmet for an XC trail in the UK. Stick with a normal XC helmet.

Frame looks fantastic I think.
Stunning lines on it, just the blue is overdone imo

Adrian has his eyes set on a Revolt though... nudge nudge wink wink...take the bait...

ps: Told you so, even before I read any of the rumours about the bike, I just didnt like it

Apparently the 80mm Reba SLs it comes with can be adjusted to 100mm too, so it looks like I can get the best of both worlds (i.e. full XT groupset and 100mm forks).
