wow yeah, for a set of Juicy 7's with disks it'd be £260. Think I bought mine a couple of years ago for £120 for the full set :o
Avid disc brakes come with the rotor etc - a set of 09 Juicy 7's cost £200 or Elixir R's for £140 (CRC prices)

Ok just did my first big ride ina long while. (Big for me).

hour cycle on paths by the river (some singletrack esque) with some hills, then an hour in the gym (why I decided to do squats I'll never know), then an hour cycle back.

Can barely stand up now.

I need new pads at the front so may as well get the brakes now.

If I get those M575 deore ones for the front can I use my current rotors, if I use the mounts I have for my current mechanical discs?

Also, what gear lever should I get? I've got the 8speed rear shimano alivio and the levers are currently part of the current brake levers.

Can anyone recommend lycra shorts to go under my normal shorts? Got some painful chaffing :p

Georges mate, I got 3 deore shifters here. 2 rears and 1 front. The pair of M511 are unused but i have an M510 that is used but looks new, could fire that in the post if you wanted it.

Depends ont he model buddy. The M800 saint required a long as 10mm bolt through, which I doubt you have?

Forgot my email was my mums virgin account email. I'd only look for the postage really mate. Been lying in a box under my bed doing nothing. I'll probably use the unused pair on my hardtail soon though so you can have the spare one.

Ah ok :) I'll check out what other models I can get then. Cheers for that, if you email my trust then I'll sort it all out :)

Thanks!

Hmm..
SLX Shadow M662 or XT M760.
Both the same price, but the shadow is reduced from higher.

Do I need long or medium cage?

Cheers :)

I've also seen I could get the deore lx front brake (M585) with lever etc for the same price as just the deore. (m535 or 525)

Are they all much of a muchness or is the lx betteR?

I can't say for sure on the rear mech, as far as I know the newer shimano stuff has a 1:1 ratio like sram so wouldn't work with the old shimano shifter I'm sending you.

You can pick up Xt brakes(caliper and lever) for £50 but you can't get a set...got a pic of your brakes at the minute?

Pretty sure no shimano stuff has 1:1 still a 2:1 ratio. the only thing SRAM you cant mix with shimano is the X range rear mech and 9 speed shifter pod e.g. x-5, x-7, x-9 etc everything else is universal.
