Apparently the 80mm Reba SLs it comes with can be adjusted to 100mm too, so it looks like I can get the best of both worlds (i.e. full XT groupset and 100mm forks).[/QUOTE]

Wow! It looks absolutely stunning. I've been waiting for these pics for weeks! :)

Lovely looking bike there Inquisitor. I was looking the LTD CC but couldn't find one anywhere. I have a thing for white bikes at the moment (even though I'm about to order another black one), I think it's stunning.

Probably the picture angle but the handlebar looks about 9ft wide! :p

Thanks guys! I'll get some better shots tomorrow but in the mean time here are some vanity shots :p

Just come back from Hoilday? Trip to India, iirc? Cracking bike for the money

Yup, was a nice thing to look forward to while in the Himalayas :p

That looks fantastic Inq', but far too clean.:)

Don't worry I'll be sure to get some dirt on it! I managed to christen it with its first crash today too… bent/scratched the front brake lever slightly :o

Managed to bend the lever back though, so it's all fine (though I may order a new one if it causes problems), but I guess that'll teach me not to be so reckless on it when there are people around :p

Hey guys,
I'm thinking of buying hydro brakes for my GT avalanche 2.

What's a good sub £100 kit? I was looking at perhaps the hayes stroker trail if they're available fully ready at that price.

Is it possible to have just the front brake hydro to save money, as my rear one's mechanical disc, and it's easy enough to make that lock up anyway.

I do XC sometimes, and it'll be used for going down a very steep, long hill in Bath.

To be honest I'm kinda thinking of just putting so V brakes on the back, as the mechanical discs are an annoyance.

The purpose of decent brakes is modulation, which means that rather than just having off or fully on locked up wheel you can modulate the amount of braking.

Answering your question, yes you can have just a front hydraulic brake if desired.

For your budget you can get a pair of avid juicy 3s or shimano deores.

Of the bikes that I've built the juicys always feel too spongy to me,being used to shimano brakes,so I'd chose the deores. I think you would get away with using your current mounts from your mechanical disks.

Is it me or are prices stupid? Seems you have to buy the rotor and mounts seperate these days...

Just noticed these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=34647 they come on a lot of entry level bikes as standard. They feel pretty powerful aswell.

The white one looks real nice when you see it close up!

Ichabod Crane - ever thought of joining Clifton CC?

We ride every Wed + whenever anyone wants to go. Just about to start up nights rides again (usually Tues or Thurs). Mix of Moors, Castle Howard, Dalby (mix of red/old red/old tracks). Trips to Scotland, Wales, etc.

http://www.cliftoncc.org if you're interested :)

Already a member :p Are you going out to see how water logged Castle Howard is today for tomorrows evening ride? I am hoping to make this weeks but Wednesday is never really a good night for me.

Frame looks fantastic I think.
Stunning lines on it, just the blue is overdone imo

Adrian has his eyes set on a Revolt though... nudge nudge wink wink...take the bait...

ps: Told you so, even before I read any of the rumours about the bike, I just didnt like it

Told me so? I can't quite remember what you told me :p The geometry looks whack, but it's a lot of bike for under £4k. Unfortunately I don't think I have my eye on the Revolt anymore. I'de still really like one but all the information at the moment is pointing in the other direction. They're already getting a reputation for cracks and poor QC, and the ride hasn't exactly been praised. I will be looking to sell it and it's just stupid buying a bike everyone may be steering clear from in 12 months (Noticed how hard it is to get rid of Session 88s recently? :p)

As much as it pains me to say it, the new full build Demo 8 II is looking to be one of the best options. It has about as much style as a footballer, but you can be certain it'l ride amazing, it's had the eyeballs tested out of it, and you're well looked after with Spec.

I've also been given word the mid-spec Mondraker Summum will be coming with Boxxer Teams and not Races, which puts it on the cards depending on the trade margins, which are still TBC last time I checked. It's untested by the masses though and will be a gamble if I do opt for it. I have a friend going there to test them within the week though so he'll get back to me on it.

Lapierre DH720 looks good but is woefully underspecced unfortunately. And I know trade price isn't the best.

I'm not really sure who else offers full builds on good frames that I actually like  Still, the Racelink is sold and the bank balance is looking marvellous, so i've got my pick of anything when the time comes. We shall see!

Told me so?

Im referring to telling you the Revolt is a POS, I was still in Morzine at the time in the pub :)

I actually read somewhere that Morewood now offers a full build of the Makulu, whether it be true or not I don't know, but it was an email copy/pasted into a Ridemonkey thread. Email came directly from Richard at Morewood - might be an option

edit: I might have read this thread wrong, but maybe worth checking out
http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3287002

Get the Makulu - promise you'll love me for recommending it
