Big Bike Thread

Looking at maybe picking up a 17/22 dialled alpine for xmas. Got a possible second hand one local for £220 in v.good condition.

Any thoughts? Riding an 18" 456 atm and feel i have a lot of room in the cockpit (but not too much).

They're suprisingly robust! I was convinced they would fall off quickly, but they've been fine.

geez what a week of riding i've had, firstly i got hit by a cars wing mirror on my elbow. the wing mirror lost and flew off the car with my elbow left bruised and received the very common driver apology "sorry m8 i did'nt see you". then tonight almost home from a long ride i come round a corner about 20mph and hit black ice and came off sliding down the road. luckily no traffic but my hip and same elbow are marked up and very sore. bikes ok though that's the main thing

I love this mentality that cyclists have

My friend wrapped himself round a tree on a DH run at Stile Cop in Cannock a few weeks ago and hurt his shoulder pretty badly. He commented afterwards that at least it was him rather than the bike that hit the tree

People recover in time, a bent frame is a bent frame though!

Agreed, I got hit by a van dislocating my shoulder, I only cared about my mangled bike at the time

bikes had a good inspection since (Merlin Malt 4, http://www.flickr.com/photos/7405500@N06/sets/72157600025278584/) only damage is scratches on my odi bar ends and my right pedal. no mech damage which is odd as the bike slammed down hard on the right side. starting to walk a bit better today too hurrah

very odd groin pull dunno how that happened oh well next time i see it snowing while riding i'll remember the possibility of ice on the road.

my fingers are painful but meh, already sorted the bike out and im going to attempt another ride next week, im a sucker for punishment.

Think I'm going to head out for a cycle around London tomorrow morning to take advantage of it being quiet, then come back and get smashed!

Just a road ride, still too much snow on the trails for anything else although todays rain might make a dirt ride possible tomorrow.

Took well over an hour to clean all the salt off the bike afterwards though and found a scrape in the clearcoat on the downtube. No idea what/when/how it happened but at least it appears to only be the clearcoat, not the carbon

Its going to be a vast difference from you spez! The white stem stands out abit. Im still not keen on Cove frames there fat looking, but the red looks nice

I’ve literally only ridden it around my street to make sure everything is the right height etc. I’m itching to get on it. Have to wait until Monday night / Tuesday.

Love the look of it though. Nice light weight too.

I did that with a group of about 30 fixed gear riders... lovely cycling round the (almost) empty streets of London

Janesssssy, what's the Park bike stand like? I've been thinking of getting one but they don't look very sturdy.
