I disagree. Yes the last few downhills are pretty good, but not worth the climbing. The Cli-Machx trail is far better and not far from that area. I did them both a few weeks ago, had great weather for them it was almost like spring!

Well, you may be right, there was a lot of climbing. Will have to give Cli-Machx a go. Tell me you didnt do them both in the same day?

Nah, Cli-Machx was on Saturday, followed by the purple (short) trail at Coed-y-Brenin, Marin trail was our Sunday morning outing. Did about 70km that weekend and an awful lot of it was uphill!

Rockhopper is always good for that kind of money. Boardmans do really well in tests, and the kit level is excellent too.

What Mountain Bike have a good section at the back of each mag with different recommendations for different price ranges, worth a look at for ideas.

guys getting pinch flats (snakebites) i highly recommend reading this article about them by george french the guy whos designed pretty much every single influential bmx part in the last ten years.

dont think ive ever got one since reading it years back. i swear by the chalk dust method

Sweet, all I need to buy is some new rims :p

Only joking, that was a good read, I'm going to inspect my rims for sharp welds/spoke holes, try the duct tape if necessary and give the chalk a go :)

I have some new brakes coming this week, Avid Elixr CR but here's a couple of spec change pics since the last time I posted ... although the bike pretty much looks exactly the same to the untrained eye :p

Got a Twenty6 F1 stem, Superstar pedals and Raceface Atlas FR bars ( THE BEST BARS EVER!) Really thought the RF bars will be too wide, but they are so super comfortable and just felt right from the get go.

Also, superstar grips rock, come in loads of colours and well cheap @ £8

Supercow, loving the bike, and the pics!

You got a Twenty6 stem, very nice! I bet that set you back a lot ;)

Oh, and I got the superstar pedals like you recommended and they're brilliant, not used my clips since!

SDK, why do you have the Flux and the Xen, they're both a similar style of helmet? Or is the Xen replacing the Flux?

Do you know it well? I passed what looked like the end of a nice DH with a wooden berm at the end where it joined the main route but I have no idea where it started from.
You need to push up to where it starts - there are a couple of jumps though trees and the wooden berm at the end.

Xen is replacing the Flux. I've had the Flux 2 years and apart from the plastic ear clip brackets both breaking on the first ride it's been a decent helmet.

I took a big fall on some ice onto the rear of my head in December and the rear tightening clips are now broken - saved me from a very nasty head injury though :)

Do you know how much your Evo helmet weighs?
I'm contemplating getting that exact one after noticing (after a years worth of use) that my crrent lid is too small for me :p ) CRC are selling those @ £60 atm, which is just giving it away!

Thanks mate, yea the stem is quite expensive, but considering it's reach adjustable I thought it's a low risk purchase. I got it for a bit less than the RRP and paid £80.

Glad you like the pedals, such great value!
