First commute in today on my new Specialized crosstrail bought through the bike to work scheme. Only 8 miles but done it in 30 minutes however it was a bit cold -2.

Congrats on getting out of the car!

I love my cycle commute, it's the best part of my day and I actually enjoy my job.

Ok so i cant stop buying bits for a bike i have owned for 2 weeks :|

Bits bought:

Clark Lock on grips
FSA XC Handle Bars
Outland lock on grip
Outland Stem
Outland Bars
Gussett Pedals
Saddle Bag
Blackburn pump
Tioga XC Extreme tyres

My budget of £400 - £500 has been totally ignored!

Anyone know anything about the Fuji Sunfire hybrid?. I'm toying with getting one for my commute so I can keep my Pinarello for dry days and weekends.

Evans have them for sale at £249. Looks pretty good value and they seem to get good reviews but I'm really not that clued up on hybrids or Fuji's.

I know the feeling - it's great researching and fitting everything.

The find of the year for me has been an 11-28 cassette. I got one as a tester for my commuting setup, loved it so ordered 2 more for my other bikes.
Who needs 34 or even 32 teeth rear gears :)

And the ride home was even better.

Get yourself an Audiobook and listen while you cycle (just keep being aware of whats going on around you).

When I was cyce commuting, I literally sometimes could not wait to get out the door to get pedalling... and finish my story/chapter :)

Just replaced my Fizik Arione with a Spesh Alias 143. I really couldn't take to the Arione. I know a lot of folk swear by them but it was one of the most uncomfortable things I have sat on.

I have no idea how the Alias will be, planning a training route tomorrow of about 40 miles to get first impressions. Certainly looks the business though, matches my Pinarello perfectly.

I'd be lost without mine  But then I'm not the fittest fiddle.

Ladies and Gentlemen may I present the newest addition to my line of ladies, I call her Bethany!

You may call her a KHS XTC555

Now excuse me but I've got to go out and ride...to work :(

very nice.
Was wondering if you'd de-tango it before taking a pic.
Arrive in a "Very large box" dont they!

I didn't have time to de-tamgo her as I had to get to work for 12:30. My Focus Varido arrived in a large box last year so I was aware of what what the courier would bring this morning.

Just got to wait a few days to get to the trails now...

I've just had a brain fade moment

Changing the gear cable in my X9 shifter which I've done many times before only this time I wasn't paying attention or focusing properly on it and I unscrewed the bottom part of the shift lever - it's practically impossible to wind the spring back in :(
Means I have to get a new one; a good excuse to upgrade to an X0 RH shifter I guess.
