hey people! i haven't touched a bike for well over 3 years when i had a nasty accident on my old marin which left me in hospital for 3 days! with the summer coming up i really want to get another ride but really haven't got much of a clue what to buy these days!

can anyone recommend me something to get started with for around the £350 mark want a hardtail as i know i wont get a Full susp for around this price! i don't really wanna spent much at the moment its just for something to get my confidence back and something to ride around town and go for long distance CCing trail riding with a few mates! then next year ill think about getting something better!

Who knows what will happen on the day crankbro. My pal has had a mare with his Avid Elixer's failing and eating brake pads....and this will be his first DH day :| I say he rides after ichobod crane.

Just watched this, and recommend it totally. Really nicely shot film of great riding in stunning scenery.

Also watched Home yesterday, recommend that to anyone whos not seen it too.

I can't remember if Kranked 7 is the one shot mainly at Highland Mountain, I've ridden there, it's a lot of fun.

Well, somehow, and God only knows how, I appear to have managed to trash my brakes this weekend. Sheared the actual pad off one of the front brakes so it's just metal. The back brake just scrapes when I apply the brake and the levers don't reset when I leave go of them.

Due to this, and the fact I've just not been very impressed with them (Hayes El Camino brakes) I'm going to replace them this week.

I've been looking at Avid Juicy 3's and Shimano Deore M525's. They're both £100 for the pair. Has anyone got any experience with either?

Both low end variants in their respective ranges. Either mend your existing or save up some more.

I rode a pals bike a few times with Juicy 3's and didn't think much of them. A bit of a downgrade from El Camino's.
