I wouldn't bank on it, applying the rear brake exerts a lot of stress on the disc mount, you could rip the caliper right off and into the wheel potentially, which could end in a nasty accident.
Yep, I wouldn't trust liquid metal either.

Thanks for the links. Very much appreciated.

Whats the differences between the Finish Line Cross Country Wet Lube and Finish Line Teflon Plus Dry Lube?

Would the 'Wet Lube' come off more easily? Dont want it to start going on my pants etc...

Thanks

Get the wet lube, it's better especially in this country and in the winter!

Meh.....in two minds. For cleaning chains i heard soaking it in petrol overnight works wonders,i aint tried it so couldnt tell you.

Gt85 + brush + warm water did the trick for me.

Im gona have to get some of this GT85, sounds like its good stuff. I soaked my chain in park citrus cleaner then went to work with a tooth brush and it did a great job. Dont get the dry lube as i got that in the summer and my chain had spots of rust after a few days, i cleaned it then oiled it with wet lube and its been rust free ever since.

Can get a new chainstay from paligap for £100........might have in with my brother and get one and see if a work discount will apply. Decent new Vbrake would be about £50? so i might aswell just pay that and get a chainstay and use the current disk brake.

Built my cousins bighit today,i'll post some pics of that up once i take them

That bike ^ looks f'in ace, I'd buy that if I was into mountain biking, but I wouldn't use it if I had it now, still its ace.

Damn! Looks sweet. I'd maybe stick some 888s, Boxxers or maybe Pike 454s on it though. It's an Uzzi right?

I'd probably go for the Socom Fro over it though.

It's an Uzzi VP yeah, and it's a freerider so you'd wanna stick with single crown 1.5's really, they've got the M3 for dual crown downhill madness.

Socom Fro is very nice looking but again more of a DH bike, the Uzzi rides more like a hardtail, quick and snappy.

Heh, I've found Boxxer's to be alright for fr, cause they're light, but generally I prefer Pikes (dunno if they're any better in your opinion, but they suit me down to the ground :D).

I haven't ridden the Socom yet (well i've tried one out in a car park, but that's not really the same ;)).

I prefer the versatility of a single crown fork to be honest, and with the introduction of 1.5" steerers and headtubes they're almost as stiff and triple clamps these days.

Pikes are pretty much single crown Boxxers now aren't they? The new Lyriks/Totems look pretty mean too.

True, that's why I stick with Pikes, and yes they're pretty much little Boxxers.
