Got a towing eye on the back of your car? You could run a cable down to it.

Good idea!!!. Didn't think of that. I have one of those steel cable lock thingies that are intended for motorcyclists to secure their crash helmets to their parked up bikes with, should do the trick if it is long enough. Not Fort Knox type security, but a deterrent at least.

About to buy one of these from Evans on the ride to work scheme £400 with front and rear cats eye lights...

Anyone got one of these? Going to use it to get to work and back a few days a week and some off road at the weekends (When the family/wife allows it) was going to go for the white but I think I'll opt for the black

That's the Rockhopper right? Just the basic model I'm guessing at that price, I have the Rockhopper 2010 SL and it's a real nice ride.

Here's my baby here http://img156.imageshack.us/f/dscf9195.jpg/

If I can convince you, go for the white. The White and Red Rockhoppers really stand out, the blacks really don't. But personal preference at the end of the day eh?

I went to A&E today, only 2 weeks after I crashed. Yep my thumb is broken :(

Had to cancel the weekend away racing a 65mile/11000ft race this weekend, damn well needs to be better in 2 weeks for the 100miler and massive 18 day road trip I've been planning for 8 months

UL Ted, which trail bit you?

Is there an easy way to remove my crank without a crank tool? i've took the bolt out and it looks like it should just pull off, but it won't budge at all.
i've got a strange noise when i push on my right pedal so want to check what it is and also need to tighten the cup a bit( could be the problem)

Fitted a pair of clipless pedals on my commuting MTB this morning. My first time using clipless pedals and it was certainly a nervous experience! There were a few times where I could have landed on my side but fortunately due to the multi-release cleats I was able to get my other foot out in panic and regain my balance.

Going out again tomorrow morning for a bit more practice before I commute to work with them tomorrow :)

Anyone know or had much use from Mavic or Sram wheels?
Trying to decide whether it's a worthy upgrade for my bike.
In particular looking at the Mavic Cosmic Elite vs. Sram S27.
I just finally replaced my road wheels after I killed them a month ago. I've gone for Easton EA90 SL's, they cost me $460/£300.

I think this is the first time I've had the chance to take the obligatory mountain bike leaning against felled logs shot :D

Worked out I've managed to knacker my granny ring, the bolt holes don't line up anymore :(

Yesterday At the Bonty 24/12 I saw a On one Carbon 465. Im glad I did because now I WONT be buying one. Ugly and heavy. I reckon its the normal rusty gas pipes with carbon wrap.

Did you deliberately rotate the wheels to the same position for that picture?
The wheels were accidental but i did deliberately put it into the big ring and the small sprocket for the photo :p

Did my first proper TT on it this morning.
Got 1:04:12..
There are a few hills and we had a headwind on the way out so i'm fairly happy with that time.

It is certainly ugly but by no means heavy! Didn't you have a summer season? They were left raw and supposed to oxidise :p

Well the bike was very heavy with hope pro2's and 2.1 tyres...
And yes I did have a summer season.. Dont quite understand that statment.

Ive also had a S works Enduro
very old stumpy and now Cove stiffee.

And I would be in a very good place to say that, they are rusty gas pipes :p and urrrgly.

Well, i didnt get to Dalby this weekend unfortunately, so i went up to guisborough woods and did the black trail instead this morning.

Jesus christ i really am unfit, i honestly thought i was going to have a heart attack on the ride up, but man was the ride down worth it.

Nearly lost it a couple of times as my enthusiasm took over from my ability, surprisingly the 11 year old bike stood up to it all, just a couple of wierd noises every time i landed a little jump.

What are people's thoughts on the Cannondale Trail SL5, i have the chance to buy one for what i think is a good price (£325, 4 months old, some light usage) but i havent ridden it yet.

Did the Balblair Black trail last night (North of Scotland)
Here are a couple of snaps my mate Ant took with his Lumix:

Fantastic evening for a ride. The light was just amazing

Wow, surprise to see that here - I grew up 10 minutes down the road and remember messing about in the woods there when I was a kid, I was back a few weeks ago for a brief visit to see family and noticed there are proper trails out there now - they any good? I might haul my bike up north next time I go if they are...

Well worth a visit mate. Once you hit the top at Balblair it gets even better :)
Carbisdale Red and Blue have had some additional work done on them this past month or two and have just re opened.
Not sure what has been done exactly but they are worth a visit as well.
Only a 15 min cycle between them

I grew up in Culrain, the village just up by Carbisdale. I love it up there
